Description:
Brightpaw, honestly, is not very remarkable in terms of appearance. Her appearance can be considered average while everything else about her is bold and noticeable. Although she is not ugly, she is not the most attractive she-cat. And even though she looks very similar to her sister Mallowfur there is something different. Brightpaw lacks softness and modesty and often that shows in the way she carries herself with confidence.
Her coat is a light yellow color, even in length and thickness all over her body. It's not useful for blending in when she hunts at night, therefore she feels she's better suited to hunting during the day. She's well muscled with a strong frame suitable for a ShadowClan cat. She's done with much of her growing already, although she still has a little bit more to go. It's likely she'll stay this size for a while. It's not a bad thing since she's not extremely small, but she'll never be a particularly large cat.
Personality:
Brightpaw doesn't always like being compared to her older sister but the similarities are easy to see. Not only do they look alike, but they have some of the same tendencies. Brightpaw is obedient, always following orders from warriors or the leader or deputy. She shows much enthusiasm in her training, always willing to learn something new. She tries to earn the respect of anyone she looks up to rank wise, and also of those whom she respects. However, that may be where the similarities end. Brightpaw had been spirited as a kit and from the day she became an apprentice, that has only been amplified.
Brightpaw is much more bold than her sister, finding it hard to sit back and watch time pass by. She is brave and unrelenting, persistant in any goal she sets. She also has no problem standing up to others when the situation calls for it. However, much of the time she refrains, after all she can't make it seem like she always talks back or can't shut her mouth. Deceiving may be a word to describe her in a sense, because making her Clan proud of her isn't her goal. Being the best is. And she'll do anything in her power to make it happen. She does feel some loyalty to ShadowClan and is proud of her birth Clan, however it will take time for that to grow as she gets closer to warriorhood.
She's cunning and wise with a knack for knowing when to keep her mouth shut and leave things alone. Some things can't be pushed, and some things need to stay hidden. Brightpaw's self control is worthy of being noted, for she knows when behavior is appropriate and when it isn't. She is fiery but controlled when she needs to be, either to leave a good impression on the older warriors and her leader, or when she deems the situation calls for it.
Brightpaw has her goals and her reputation to focus on, however that doesn't stop her from being social. She has those she considers acquaintences but no one really close. She is outgoing and talkative, finding ways to engage in conversation and make others fond of her. She has a confidence about her that can attract others, and it's not unusual for her to invite herself into a conversation and not think anything of it. She is charming in her own way, not sweet or sensitive, far from soft in any sense. It is her determination and spirit that win her the admiration of her Clan mates.
Brightpaw is independent, unwilling to rely on anyone in the fear that they will let her down like her sister had. But if she is able to get past her untrusting tendencies, she can come to be extremely loyal to those she is close to. Having a close friend is something she's missed out on for most of her apprenticeship so far.

Mallowpaw was the model apprentice. She did what she was told, followed her mentor's orders and excelled at her training. She enjoyed doing chores around camp and didn't even complain when she had to tend to the elders. She was a fan of many of the older warriors who praised her obedience and enthusiasm. But most of all she made her parents some of the proudest cats in ShadowClan. So proud that they decided to have a another litter in the hopes that this litter would turn out like their sister.
Brightkit was born to Heatherfeather and Bluetooth, the only kit of her parents' second litter. The parents had been expecting a larger litter, but still loved her as much as they loved Mallowpaw. Brightkit was never short of affection during her kithood, being the source of much of her parents' boasting and the adoration of her close family. But it wasn't the affection of her mother and father that she needed. She thrived on the attention from her sister. Brightkit adored Mallowpaw, and the apprentice seemed to love her younger sister just as much. They spent as much time together as they could, Brightkit teaching Mallowpaw all of the games the kits "made up" that Mallowpaw had played herself as a kit, and Mallowpaw teaching Brightkit all of the beginner stalking methods and combat moves. They tussled playfully outside the nursery and ate together almost every evening. When Mallowpaw earned her warrior name, Mallowfur, Brightkit couldn't have been any more proud of her sister.
Mallowfur had new warrior duties but the sisters were still very close. Brightkit knew she had other family, the now-apprentices Eclipsepaw, Emberpaw, and Honeypaw, but those three had always been particularly close and she had never had a chance to know any of them. Her other, older cousins Acornsquash and Goldenbutt were both dead. Brightkit had not at all been sheltered from the harsh life of the Clans and did not think anything of their deaths. Having her sister was enough for her.
However, that wasn't to last. All of a sudden there was another cat, Mallowfur's old mentor, Nettletail. And all of a sudden things were different. It wasn't, "Hi Brightkit, want to share some fresh-kill?" It was, "Do you mind if Nettletail eats with us, too?" Mallowfur wasn't just playing with Brightkit any more, she was chatting with other warriors by her den and going out alone with Nettletail. Brightkit didn't know what to make of it at first, and didn't think anything of it. It wouldn't last for long, and things would be back to normal in no time.
But that didn't happen. A couple moons passed and Mallowfur and Nettletail were seen together constantly, not trying to hide their romance. Mallowfur still hung out with her little sister, however Brightkit could feel that things had changed. She hid her disappointment well, because no other cats tried to comfort her when she suddenly felt so lonely. Or maybe no one cared. Brightkit decided to move on, not about to care for something that wasn't any more. Mallowfur could do whatever she wanted with that dumb tom, but her relationship with her sister was over because of it.
Being alone has made her stronger. On the day of her apprentice ceremony her parents came up to her and said something along the lines of, "Work hard and you'll be just as good of an apprentice as Mallowfur was." Brightpaw has taken this to heart. From that day she made it her goal to be the best apprentice she can, no matter what. She is determined to outshine Mallowfur, whatever it takes. And no toms along the way, either! She can't have something like that distracting her. She's going to prove that she can be just as "great" as Mallowfur was, without anything getting in her way.
