Description:
haughty, guarded, beautiful, attractive, c o o l, shadowy
A long-legged, slim and darkly beautiful cat, Darkflower is not as shadowy-pelted as her name might suggest. In actual fact, her base coat is very pale, and her belly and sides are covered in long, white fur. Her name arises from the flecks of black across her back and on the end of her tail, and the dark brown mingled in amongst the light fur. She has pale green eyes, very sharp and piercing, which frequently bear a rather disdainful expression. It is this, along with the fact that Darkflower rarely smiles, which somewhat mar her otherwise very attractive features. She possesses the rather frosty countenance and arrogant good looks that seem to be a family trait. However, though there is distinctive family resemblance between her and her kin, her fur colour is unusual amongst a family of darker pelted cats. Whilst the others usually possess glossy black or deep brown fur, Darkflower's pelt is almost an anomaly, though her maternal grandmother had a similar pale colouring. She is a very beautiful cat, and would be more so if she only would smile more. However, when she is with her sister, Blackfeather, as she so often is, she almost looks friendly.
But the same could also be said of an angry rottweiler, or perhaps a poisonous snake, when lined up with Blackfeather.
Personality:
conflicted, proud, clever, morally ambiguous, frosty, l o y a l, purist
Darkflower is an extremely proud cat who can display a cold, haughty exterior. Most of the time she is rather unapproachable, wanting little to do with the majority of other cats. She sways on the line between being kind and bitter, neither trait managing to dominate, meaning there is a definite moral ambiguity with Darkflower. Sometimes she seems to have a good heart, but she buries it beneath a mask of indifference, too proud to openly confide in most cats. She upholds the Warrior Code very rigidly, believing that steering away from it and StarClan is a terrible crime indeed. She also has been led to believe in the importance of blood purity, and that mixing the Clans would lead to bitter retribution and should be avoided at all costs. She believes that ShadowClan is the dominant Clan and is therefore fiercely loyal, priding herself in belonging to it. She thinks that alliances with any of the other three Clans is unnecessary and does not like relying on anyone else.
While she acts frostily towards most other cats, she cares deeply for her own kin and displays a ferociously protective side when it comes to them. She has quite a hot head and a scathing tongue; she is not afraid to be ruthless and aggressive if her kin is threatened. If she ever fell in love and had kits, there is no doubt that she would put her mate and kits above anything else in her life; she would give them everything they could want would do whatever it took to keep them safe. Darkflower does not have that many friends because of her kin: some cats dare not meddle with her family. But without the frosty exterior Darkflower would probably be far more pleasant than most of it.
History:
There were four kits in Darkkit's litter, but one died shortly after birth. As the third-born kit in the litter, Darkkit had two sisters who were very similar in appearance, but less so in personality. Darkkit looked less like her sisters, with a lighter pelt than them both. Her mother and father both drilled into Darkkit the importance of pure Clan blood and so she grew up prejudiced against mixed Clan cats. Even as a kit she seemed proud and rather unfriendly, though she was coolly respectful to her elders. She was intelligent and sly from the beginning, seeming very calculating for such a young kit. Though her two sisters looked alike, they were different in nature. Darkkit was closest to the oldest of the three, Blackkit, whose personality was more similar to hers. However, her oldest sister was even more extreme in her beliefs about blood purity and Clan individualism. She was also more fanatic about ShadowClan's dominance than Darkkit. On the other side of the spectrum was Brightkit, who was softer, kinder and gentler and never so against mixed-Clan cats.
As they got older, this difference in opinion became more pronounced. As apprentices, Blackpaw continued to encourage Darkpaw's prejudices, whilst Brightpaw was becoming estranged from her siblings and disgusted by Blackpaw's corrupting of Darkpaw. As the end of their apprenticing drew in, it was almost as if the only thing that the cats shared was blood. Though they all resembled one another with their dangerous, dark elegance, their hearts were in different places. Blackpaw was becoming more and more unpleasant, and Brightpaw was turning away from what her family. Darkpaw was somewhere in the middle.
After becoming warriors, Blackfeather was just as cold-hearted as ever, and even Darkflower was starting to doubt her. But when her sister Brightpool fell in love with a WindClan cat she had met at a Gathering and their illicit affair became known, the family refused to have any contact with her, deeming her a traitor for daring to fall for a cat that was not a pure ShadowClan cat. Blackfeather claimed that they would never acknowledge Brightpool as their sister again. Darkflower saw the danger of disagreeing with her family and felt she had no choice but to stick with Blackfeather, waiting to meet a tom her kin approved of. Now they are older, however, Darkflower's reservations about her sister are even more pronounced. Though she continues to hang around with her and shuns the company of most others, she has her doubts.

How can you see into my eyes
Like open doors?
Lading you down into my core,
Where I've become so numb.
Without a soul,
My spirit sleeping somewhere cold,
Until you find it there and lead it back
Home.
(Wake me up)
Wake me up inside.
(I can't wake up)
Wake me up inside.
(Save me)
Call my name and save me from the dark.
(Wake me up)
Bid my blood to run.
(I can't wake up)
Before I come undone.
(Save me)
Save me from the nothing I've become.
Now that I know what I'm without,
You can't just leave me.
Breathe into me and make me real.
Bring me to life.
