Description:
Ivypaw definitely fits into her family of ginger cats, though her fur is much lighter than most of her siblings. She has very light orange colored pelt with lighter orange stripes. The stripes aren’t too visible, and really can only be seen up close. At a first glance she looks almost a cream color, but take another glance and you see the faint color of orange in her pelt. Around her tail she has a few patches of a brownish color. Fur-wise, she has a short pelt, which is much easier when it comes to grooming, and when trying to help others and not be weighed down with extra fur.
The young medicine cat apprentice is an averaged sized cat, she isn’t scrawny but she isn’t huge. She has whiskers that are quite long, and to her are a bit annoying. Length-wise, she looks like she could grow a little more, and be a long and lean cat when she is full-grown.
And to continue on with the family tradition, she has eyes similar to her family. Ivypaw’s aren’t quite as dark as the majority of her family members; she has more of a bluish color mixed in with the green. They are more green than blue, but the blue is quite apparent.
Personality:
[/justify]Ivypaw is a very quiet cat, despite being apprentice to the medicine cat and talking to patients frequently. She is very shy and rarely talks to others, unless they have a need for her. This apprentice has never been very talkative, and doesn’t like to talk about what has happened to her family. She loves her remaining sister, and is always worried about her.
Ivypaw has a good level of patience, which really helps when dealing with sick cats, or her stubborn little sister. She doesn’t really like to go out of camp alone, and when she goes to collect herbs she prefers to have someone with her. Though she doesn’t talk much, she will open up a little if you go herb collecting with her. This is probably one of the few times Ivypaw will talk more than a few words.
She also has recently in the past moon or so began to help out a fellow medicine cat apprentice. He is slowly becoming one of her best friends, and she is most chatty with him. They quiz eachother, and it really helps Ivypaw get over the loss of her sister.
Nothing comes before her family. It is her top priority, and she will do whatever she can to protect her last remaining sibling.
History:
Ivypaw was born into RiverClan with three other siblings in her litter. Her parents names were Lightstep, and Grasshopper. Her brother, Leafkit was the oldest of the kits, then came Cloverkit, then herself, and then finally was her brother, Poppykit. The four were always together, and enjoyed eachother's company. Greencough spread through the camp, and her younger brother caught it. Poppykit died within a few days of having the disease. This sent fear through the other three kits, even though Poppykit was the youngest, he had been the strongest.
After a couple more moons, Leafkit and Cloverkit became Leafpaw and Cloverpaw. Ivykit had always been a bit different than her siblings, and wanted to help kits like her dead brother. So a half-moon after her siblings were made apprentices, she was made the new medicine cat apprentice. This was exciting news for the young cat.
Soon Ivypaw found out her mother would be having another litter of kits.
Life was perfect, or so they thought. The oldest of the litter, Leafpaw, was out with Grasshopper training one day, and rogues walked into the territory. The two were killed in the grueling battle, before help could arrive. The news was broken to Lightstep, heavy with unborn kits, and nothing could have stopped the shock. Not only did she lose her mate, but her son also. The shock was too much to bear and Lightstep went into labor with the kits, a half moon before they were to be born. The queen gave birth to a litter of five kits, three toms and two she-kits. The oldest, Grasskit, she named after his father, since he looked so much like her recently deceased mate. The second kit, Shinekit, was named by Cloverpaw. Third came Poppykit, named after her deceased son from her previous litter. Fourth was Dirtkit, named by Ivypaw, thinking he would be a tough as dirt. The fifth and final kit was given the name Hollykit, named after Lightstep’s best friend. Shortly after they were named and began nursing, nothing could be done to stop the blood loss of Lightstep. She followed suit after her mate and son, and joined the ranks of StarClan just hours after the kits birth.
Luckily there was another queen in the nursery and she was able to nurse the five unlucky kits. None of them were expected to survive, so it came as no surprise when two of the kits died after only a few days. Grasskit, Poppykit, and Hollykit were left and how they survived this far was a mystery. These really were tough little kits. The three kits were now a moon old, who would have thought these three would make it? Luck was not with the remaining toms of the litter. Both Grasskit and Poppykit fell ill, and were not able to recover. Hollykit was the only kit from her parent's second litter to survive.
Ivypaw felt it was definitely her calling to be the medicine cat apprentice, Cloverpaw aswell. If it hadn’t been for Ivypaw taking care of Hollykit while Cloverpaw is training or doing apprentice duties, the kit would probably be dead long before now. She knows she belongs as the medicine cat apprentice, and doesn’t question it.
At the age of nine moons, Ivypaw lost her big sister due to the river. And so she was left alone to care for Hollykit. She knows this is a big responsibility and is willing to do whatever it takes to make sure Hollykit is safe.
