((This is actually right outside camp. Close enough. Yellow and Hedgie should totally post. >3> And whoever wants to with a TC cat. x3))
At first, spying out ThunderClan's land hadn't sounded at all appealing to the calico loner; much less if the proposal for watching the land was offered by another Clan cat. But after hearing all the perks to helping out those ShadowClan cats' cause, Flowersky had found herself instantly intrigued and drawn towards the rewards. Free prey and the support of a Clan against their enemies was a very enticing proposal; not to mention the other things that came with it. Flowersky would be the first to admit that she disliked the Clan cats, but if those two cats were being honest, the venture into ThunderClan territory to scope out the camp would be worth it. Sure, Flowersky and her adoptive family seemed to have gotten stuck with the most challenging of the areas of ThunderClan territory, but perhaps Flowersky could wheedle some greater prize out of her employers for that.
The hard part had been convincing her family. October didn't seem completely opposed to the idea; he was generally a neutral cat. Snowy, on the other hand, hadn't liked the idea at all. She seemed to have some unspoken opinions against the Clan cats. Oh well. Flowersky wasn't going to pry. And, besides, after only a bit of prodding and pleading, Flowersky had talked them into joining her on her romp into ThunderClan territory.
This was what had led to the trio's current position several tail-lengths from what appeared to be the main path out of the ThunderClan camp. ThunderClan's camp was situated in a ravine. They had to jump up rocks to reach the forest. That seemed like a pain in the tail to Flowersky, but it was hard to reach. She grudgingly gave them credit for that.
So far, the calico had taken note of several cats leaving camp. Two of them seemed to be official patrols; one left at dawn and the other left at sunhigh. Between those times and the current time - it was now getting on in the evening, the sun inching closer to dusk by the heartbeat - several other small groups of cats had left camp. These were probably hunting patrols. Overall about three or four cats were in each patrol. Only a few of them had mentioned scenting strange cats on their territory; none of them seemed too concerned. Flowersky, October, and Snowy had occasionally changed positions, anyway; this was to get both a different view of the camp and to prevent their scent from lingering in one place too long.
Of course, if Flowersky had thought about it, they may have found some fox dung or something to roll in. Gross but efficient in concealing scents. There was the threat of being taken captive when posted so near the camp. If that happened, they wouldn't get their chance to get all the benefits from that tom's - Snaketail? - offer. Plus they'd be stuck in a camp for an undetermined amount of time. And they couldn't tell the Clan cats that they were hired. They'd have to say they were just passing through or some creative variation of that.
As for the other questions they'd been instructed to answer, the prey didn't seem particularly plentiful around here - mostly it consisted of birds and mice; cats were there constantly, all day; there were enough places for three cats to hide, along with the typical brush and trees known to forests; the ground was easy to maneuver.
Well, with any luck they'd make it through this day without getting caught. Then they could wait for Snaketail and that she-cat, Lightningwhatever, to return and get their reports. And then they would get their rewards and this whole thing would be done.
