So last night it occurred to me that I have a few characters that I really love and care for, and then a bunch of other 'filler' characters. I still like roleplaying with the rest of my cats, but I don't really care about their 'lives.' This lead to the thought, If I had to kill off all but ten of my cats, would I miss my great horde of characters? Or could I do it without regret? So right then and there I got out of bed (it was pitch-dark and almost two in the morning), got my notebook, and made a list of my ten favorite characters. That's just how much I like making lists. And this is what I came up with:
1) Brindlepelt: Words cannot describe the feeling that I get whenever I think of this character. She's just such an interesting cat, and there's so much conflict going on inside her. I love roleplaying with her, and her potential for character development is just amazing. If I could keep only one of my cats she is the one I would choose, above even Sagepaw and Ravenstar, because I cannot bear to part with her. Her relations to her sister Lightfeather is really an important aspect of her character as well, but she didn't quite make it on the list.
2) Emberpaw: When I volunteered to make Honeypaw and Eclipsepaw's long lost sister, I had no idea I was making my second favorite character! Emberpaw is amazing because she's the only character I have that I genuinely want to achieve power and skill instead of happiness and love. Love is for wusses, anyway.
3) Spottedfur: Spottedfur comes in third because of his conflicted nature and potential for character development. Much like Brindlepelt, he has a lot to fix about himself, though he's not nearly as anxious about it as she is. I modeled Spottedfur after my favorite character from my favorite book series, so he's definitely a keeper.
4) Ravenstar: Yay for modeling cats after book characters! Ravenstar is a darker character than my previous two, perhaps more so than any of my other cats. He earns fourth place because he's leader (woop woop!) and because I love his dark ambition.
5) Sagepaw: You didn't think I was going to forget about my very first character on this site, did you? Even though Sagepaw isn't a very deep or complex character, he gets fifth place out of nostalgia and because he's a meddie apprentice.
6) Littlekit: Wow, I haven't even roleplayed with this cat yet and he made it onto my top ten! It must be sheer stubbornness that got him there. That, and the fact that I really must find out if it's possible to make him grow a soul, or if he's just going to stay a malicious trickster for the rest of his life. Eaglekit is his twin, his little brother, and his other half, so he's essential to Littlekit's character, but he's not cute enough to get on the list on his own.
7) Batheart: I put Batheart in seventh because I like his easygoing, teasing nature, and because I want to be there when he finally makes the big leap and decides to love a cat from another Clan.
8) Doveclaw: Doveclaw's smart remarks and take-no-prisoners attitude earn her eighth place in my list of my most favorite cats. She may be difficult at times, but she is loyal, and she believes in fairness above all else. Trying to navigate the minefield that is Doveclaw's personality makes her an interesting and challenging character to play.
9) Mottledleaf: Mottledleaf walks the fine line between being a character I genuinely like and holding a position that I want to keep. I really like how she turned out, even though there's not much mysterious or complex about her, but she also gets ninth place because she's my only she-cat in ThunderClan, not to mention that she's my only warrior there.
10) Mothpelt: Mothpelt is the most recent of my creations, and for that reason he only comes in tenth until I roleplay him and figure out how much I like him. Despite that, he made it into the top ten because he's a cool cat, and I like how he doesn't care what anyone else thinks about him. But it would be interesting if he ever met a cat who's opinion he did care for.
So then, let's hear your thoughts! Could you bear to slim down to ten characters? Do you have one or two favorites that you absolutely adore? Do you think Spore is a crazy lunatic for getting up at two in the morning just to make this list? Go ahead and add your comments... if you dare. Muahahahaha...
Wait, what? Oh, just vote and post.
