-I'm All Alone
Softheart walked down alone the shore of the river, keeping far away enough not to let her shadow show on the surface of the water. Her emerald eyes narrowed as she came to a stop. She crotched down, her muscles tensed as she watched as a fish moved closer to her. She licked her jaws, her mouth watering at the sight of the prey as it cluelessly swam even closer. She waited patiently, lifting her right paw up as she waited for her chance to strike. If she made a mistake, it might end up scaring away all the fish in the water and she'd have to wait until they felt comfortable again to move to the surface. She wasn't about to let that happen though. In an instant her paw broke the surface of the water and her sharp claws dug into the flesh of the fish. She yanked it out with ease and toss the fish onto the lush green grass.
It was plump, and obvious sign that it had been eating due the satisfying green-leaf. Seeing as she had already dropped off two fishes and a water vole, she decided to fill her belly. Her Clan had been eating well due to the plentiful prey that ran during green-leaf. She lowered her head, opening her mouth as she sank her teeth into the flesh of the fish. She trotted gracefully over to a large tree before settling under it to enjoy her meal. The sky was dark, but the moon shined brightly in the sky and no clouds showed over-head. She would love nothing more to be at the gathering with the rest of the cats, but she wasn't chosen by Willowstar to attend. She had to stay back and make sure everything ran smoothly while most of the Clan was away at the gathering. It didn't bother her though, she was sure she'd get a chance to go to the next gathering.
As she began to tear away at the flesh of the fish, her mind ran over to her family. Her mother, Silvereyes, had already joined the ranks of Starclan from a battle with a fox. This was when she was an apprentice and at the time, Softheart came to accept that her mother was in a better place, but that didn't stop her from missing her. Her brother, Bristlethroat ran off to live a safe and secure like of a kitty-pet after it happened. He was so terrified of the same happening to him, he broke the warrior code to become a simple pet to a two-leg. How could he? After their mother's sacrifice, she thought that would just make him work harder into become a strong warrior, but instead it just fled with his tail between his legs and his ears flattened to his skull. He didn't even come out of his garden to visit her. The only one left of her family was her father, Stormpelt, who is now sitting in the elder's den. She knew his days was coming to an end; all he did was sleep all day and barely even move. His time was coming to join the ranks of Starclan and this would leave Softheart all alone.
She didn't want to be alone. It was her greatest fear. She would like nothing more than to have a mate and start a family of her own, but who would want her? She wasn't the prettiest she-cat in the Clan; nor the smartest or bravest. Toms always seeked out the prettiest one or the most skilled; there was nothing about her that made her special. She might as well accept her life of loneliness and accept the fact that she would never be able to have kits of her own. Softheart didn't mind going to the nusury to visit the playful kits, but she wanted to exprience what the Queens did. She wanted to know what it was like to be a mother and to raise her own kits. But in order to have kits, she needed a mate. Softheart gobbled down the rest of the fish, leaving nothing but a few scraps of bones she would need to bury later on. As she stood to her feet, she heard a noise. Someone was approaching her. Her ears pricked and she swung her head to side to side, trying to pin-point the location of the other cat.
But I Still Hold My Head High-
|Occ; I need a tom, obviously. Someone who is interested in Softheart because I'm hoping to make her a Queen soon. Anyone may join|
