Clan Wars! (kitstyle)

Stormkit was bored with hearing the she-kits talk. He closed his eyes tight and thought hard about what they could do for fun. Slowly, an idea formed in his mind. He grew excited, but he didn't speak until he had the entire idea planned out.

"Hey guys," he mewed in an excited whisper. "Let's play Clan War outside! Creamkit, Silverkit, and Me can be Thunderclan. Streamkit, Swiftkit, and Shadowkit can be Riverclan. Sandkit, Stonekit, and Spottedkit can be Windclan."

"Ahem," Violetkit fake coughed. She was still sitting beside the rabbit.

Stormkit turned to look at her curiously. "Are you sick, Violetkit?"

The small grey kit scowled. "What about me?!"

Stormkit raised an eyebrow. "You want to play?"

'No duh, Mousebrain,' Violetkit thought to herself, but she kept quiet in case Stormkit wouldn't let her play.

"Okay," Stormkit mewed with a shrug. "You can team up with Sandkit."

Violetkit scrunched her face in clear disgust, but reminded herself that Sandkit was Stormkit's sister.

"Actually," she mewed sweetly, "I'd rather be..." On your team,' she thought, but bit her tongue as she looked around at all the other kits. "Shadowclan."

Streamkit flicked her tail excitedly at the thought of a grand game in which all the three moon-old kits could play. "That sounds like loads of fun!" she squeaked eagerly, bouncing in place. Apparently bouncing just wasn't enough, because a moment later she twisted around and began chasing her own fluffy, plume-like tail. She managed to catch it in her teeth just as she fell over from dizziness, and the pale grey kit wrestled with the feathery tail, rolling around on the ground.

"We'd best start planning our battle strategy, Sandkit," Spottedkit teased his pale-brown sister. "Don't want the other Clans to catch us napping. A good Clan is a prepared Clan, wouldn't you say?" He strolled over to the she-kit and sat beside her with a twinkle in his eye. Despite his talk of strategy, he was looking forward to the battle as much as any kit here. Pausing to look around and survey the other kits, the spotted tom couldn't help but notice the disgruntled expression on Violetkit's face. "Perhaps if we asked, Bristlepaw would join our game so that Violetkit won't be all by herself," he suggested. No cat could have fun trying to hold their own against three other teams who each had two more members than them. Bristlepaw was a full six moons older than the kits, but it would be just him and Violetkit against the other three Clans of kits.

Finally releasing her tail, Streamkit sat up with perked ears. "That's a great idea, Spottedkit!" she said with surprise. "I hadn't thought of asking an apprentice to join. It'll be even more fun with more cats!" Then she cast a glance at Shadowkit, remembering the black kit's shyness. "What do you think, Shadowkit?" she asked earnestly. She liked Bristlepaw, but if Shadowkit wasn't comfortable playing with the apprentice then Streamkit would rather he wasn't included.

"Yeah!" Sandkit cheered excitedly, wriggling in place. She tried to make herself sit still, but was unsuccessful. Her tail flicked from side to side and her green eyes were wide and bright. She was especially excited to have Spottedkit on her team. Her brother might be able to come up with a strategy that could help them win. She smiled at the thought.

"What kind of strategy do you want to have?" Sandkit blurted when Spottedkit sat next to her, unaware that the other kits would hear their strategy if she kept being so loud. "We should do a sneak attack!" Instantly, the small brown kit crouched to the ground and moved over the nursery floor, keeping her belly brushing the ground. Her bottom wasn't to the ground, however, and her tail stuck straight up, making her appear not as stealthy as she would have hoped.

As he heard his brother's idea, Swiftkit's eyes gleamed with anticipation. Clan War? Excellent. Various strategies began buzzing around his head immediately and determination filled him up. He turned to Streamkit and Shadowkit, his face full of hard thought and tactics. "RiverClan." He muttered. He didn't mind which of the Clans he got, as long as his team won the battle. Swiftkit rolled his eyes as he easily overheard Sandkit's noisy ideas, wondering how it was that she seemed to project her voice quite so much, even when she should be whispering. He did not say a word about the plans which were forming inside his own head; he waited for his two sisters to turn their attention to their strategy. Whether Bristlepaw played or not was not so important to him, even if he was much older than them.

"Hmm, I wonder what WindClan is going to do!" He meowed over his shoulder loudly, rolling his eyes again at Sandkit. He then glanced back at Streamkit and Shadowkit and lowered his voice. "Well?" His eyes were very round and intense, and Swiftkit seemed to be taking the game rather seriously.

Silverkit's small head shot upwards at the sound of the game. Though she wasn't the most social kit, the war perked her childish interest, and she began to feel fuzzy with excitement. She leapt lightly to her feet and padded to Stormkit, baring her small milkteeth in a strange smile. "This is a great idea, Stormkit!" She mewed happily, "I never thought I'd ever be a Thunderclan kit!"

Silverkit began to flex her non-exsistent muscles in mock imitation of the Thunderclan cats, twitching her bottlebrush tail and purring softly. "How will we start? Should we have little bits sectioned off, like the Clan territory?"

Shadowkit was amused by Stormkit's pairings. At least she was with the sister she trusted most. She was truely grateful for that. If she hadn't been with Streamkit, she probably wouldn't have played.
"I guess he can play, I'll try to be brave." she mewed, sitting behind Streamkit as she looked at the other kits.

"RiverClan?" Shadowkit questioned just now realizing which Clan she would take part in. "Works for me, I like water." she added.

The black kit tried to stifle a laugh as she heard Sandkit. "Hey Sandkit, if you don't quiet down a little your team will lose really quick." She wasn't usually one to speak up in front of others, but she couldn't resist this. Plus it was hard to think with overhearing her sister.

After her fun, the kit shifted her attention to Swiftkit and Streamkit. "Don't look at me for ideas, I'm just here to even out the teams." she said softly. Of course the kit was quite intelligent, and had decent ideas, but getting her to voice her ideas was quite difficult.

A silver tabby she-cat sat with her pelt pressed against the fur of a reddish warrior, watching a dying sunset, a slight breeze ruffling their fur. "I wish we could be together always," she murmured. "I don't care about Clan differences..." His reply was muted; it always was. For some reason, she couldn't hear his voice in the dream world. Slowly, as the light began to fade, the tom began to fade too. "Foxfur," the she-cat cried, as his warm scent began to disappear. She stood, wavering. "Foxfur..." she murmured. "Come back...." One thought rang out in her mind, repeating endlessly. Foxfur.....Foxfur.....Foxfur......

Rivermist opened her eyes suddenly, at the feeling of a small warm body bumping into her. She lifted her head, her eyes softening as she gazed at her kits. She began to purr with some amuesment as they made plans for their game, excitement making their tails stick up in the air. Her purr deepend as she heard Sandkit's tiny mew ringing out loud and clear.

"A sneak attack works only if the other Clans aren't expecting it, dear," she meowed, her eyes twinkling. She ran a paw over her ear leisurely, enjoying not having to face the Clan, breathing in the scent of young kits. Her kits. Foxfur's kits.

Sandkit sat up straight when she heard Shadowkit call her name. Instead of getting mad she felt her ears grow hot with embarrassment. She hadn't realized she wasn't being very sneaky. She didn't want to snap back at her sister, so instead she sat and looked around the nursery, hoping not to many of the other kits were watching her.

Soon she heard her mother's voice. "Rivermist!" She squeaked, whipping around. "You're finally awake!" It seemed like the silver tabby had been sleeping forever. Sandkit didn't realize Rivermist was talking to her until she reached her mother. Her odd, dark green eyes looked up at her. "We're gonna play Clan Wars. I'm on a team with Spottedkit. You should play too!"

Her small wriggling body was filled with excitement. Sandkit didn't look much like her mother at all. She had the small, lithe build of a WindClan cat, but her ginger fur matched her father's. She didn't know this, of course, and never thought much of the difference between her and her mother's pelts.

Rivermist rasped her tongue over Sandkit's soft fur. "Yes, I'm awake," the queen purred. In response to Sandkit's question, she replied, "Sounds like fun, but I'm too big to play with you. And strategy was never my strong suit. Still, I can watch..." She continued to purr as she gazed down at her daughter.

"Just be nice when you play," she reminded the kit. "Don't bully the others, let go when someone squeals, and play fair." She directed her words to all her kits, her blue gaze gentle and loving. She flicked her tail in the direction of the other kits. "Now go on and have fun." She relaxed, wishing Foxfur could be here, watching their kits with her.

Stormkit's eyes twinkled with mischief as he turned to Silverkit. "I have it all worked out. As for our battleplan," he lowered his voice. "We'll discuss it outside."

With a wave of his tail, he beckoned Creamkit and Silverkit to follow him out of the nursery entrance. He had already decided how he would divide Clan territory. Just as he got to the nursery entrance, Violetkit stepped in front of him.

"And where are you going?" she mewed, looking sharply from him to Creamkit.

Stormkit looked confused by her snappish mew. "I was just going to divide the Clan territory. So we can start the game."

"I'm coming too," Violetkit mewed sternly.

Stormkit just shrugged. "Alright let's go."

Creamkit, being the largest kit in the nursery, bent over to Silverkit's ear.

"So which Clan do you think we should go after first?" she murmured really really low.

She was glad to be on her friend Stormkit's team, but she really didn't want to fight her sister.

Silverkit purred expectantly, following Stormkit. She tilted her head to the left and answered Creamkit in the same lo tones. "Well, Thunderclan could be a threat to our defences, but Riverclan could pull something off which could destroy us." She spoke with all seriousness, thinking of startegies and wondering if she had ever snatched any of the older cats conversation on fighting.

Before she fully excited the Nursery, she recognized her mother's voice and let out a mew of delight, prancing back to Rivermist's warm body and uzzling her small head into the fur, licking it softly just so she could taste her mother's scent. "Mother..." She said, her voice full of adoration and warmth.
