Tallstorm is, obviously, a very large cat. He’s a hefty fellow with a large bone structure to make him up as a whole. Perhaps taller than what most cats may be, this cat is a miniature tiger. Large paws that can leave behind scary prints, along with an outsized form can make it so clear why he can feel so arrogant about his “pure” ShadowClan blood. He thinks he’s amazingly built because of it. But this also puts him at a flaw. He’ll never be stealthy because his large size makes creeping around near impossible. Along with his white pelt, he might be the least stealthy cat there is in ShadowClan. In a way, he’s not fat but just big-boned, literally. Despite size and weight, he doesn’t look overfed or underfed. He’s actually average, just much larger in structure than the others. With rounded, upright ears on his somewhat small head, he can look exotic when turned in the right direction. A somewhat shorter muzzle and very rounded skull makes his rough exterior softer.
In the way of coat, he’s almost pure white minus the patterns you see lingering on him. Tabby markings. “White tabby” might be an odd way to describe him but it fits. Down his tail, across his face, faintly on his legs, you can see the lings of a tabby that flows through his bloodline. They’re a dark, smoky gray along his tail, a fainter gray-tan on his legs, and far more tan along his head. But they’re there and brightly obvious that this cat is neither full tabby or full white. He’s always been an oddity though. It’s his eyes that say more though. The astonishing, soothing, mellow sky blue color is far from the piercing pale blue, like ice. But there is more coldness in these eyes than what some might think. Though a very soothing color, nothing about Tallstorm will ever be truly soothing unless one can truly find it beneath all of that.
Personality:
Pure & High-Bred;; By this, it means he believes strongly in pure-blood. Those of pure ShadowClan are truly ShadowClan. He doesn’t care how it gets there, so long as the only highest ranks among the Clan are born and raised with nothing but ShadowClan genes. He refuses to think of it any other way. In a sense, he does not hate the other clans, merely the mixing of their blood. A WindClan cat is bred for the speed, nothing else. Why mix that with the cats of RiverClan, or Thunder or ShadowClan? Or worse- non-Clan blood! His views on this make him very picky and almost snobbish when he considers the mating of any cat among his Clan members. He hates seeing kits that have to be raised knowing they did not get a choice in their parents. He never takes his hatred out on the kits produced from it, merely on the parents that decided it (unless given GREAT reason as to why he should not be angry with them.) To him, the kits are poor misfortunate souls that just need to be shown that they must be dedicated only to ShadowClan and nothing more.
Bad-Tempered & Bitter;; You don’t make Tallstorm angry. That’s a fact. Behind those sky blue eyes is a dark monster with a bad past. He learns to control himself every day, but if one cat pushes him or those he considers “his,” then they’re asking for Hell to rain down on them in a snowy white form. Tallstorm doesn’t take well to being scorned or shunned and he won’t let it last for long before his thorn-sharp tongue breaks into use. The only ones that avoid his harshness seem to be kits, those that are “his,” and his leader. But even the deputy doesn’t miss out on it, and rarely with the leader. He’s bold in that sense with his temper and Tallstorm has to remind himself about it very often. He’s a loose cannon- watch out!
Disbelieving & Uncaring;; Plain and simple: he doesn’t believe in StarClan. He thinks everything happens on the choice of the cat and that those that think StarClan are merely trying to cover the truth. If there is a StarClan, they don’t care. They don’t want to stop the spreading of the genes, they don’t want to stop the breaking of the code. No, if they do exist, they are pathetically weak. So he takes everything into his own paws and refuses to “wait it out and see what StarClan says.” It’s now or never, that’s his philosophy.
History:
Tallkit, Cloudkit, and Rainkit. Products of two strong warriors. Mistyheart and Whitefang were nothing more than that; good, loyal, average warriors. How were they to know the drama these three would stir up so quickly? Growing up, Tallkit was perhaps the obvious leader, always stalking around and pushing Cloudkit as if he was a follower. Rainkit never had to worry, she was well-respected by her brothers for being the female of the group. Because of that, it merely became a brother problem that any of them ever had to suffer. Cloudkit was vindictive, he despised his brother for the controlling way he demanded everything. Spoiled, rude, rotten, Tallkit at the time was nothing more than a bully to the others.
Neither Mistyheart nor Whitefang ever really knew the tension between their sons. If they had, perhaps they could’ve stopped everything from the very beginning.
When they became apprentices, Rainpaw was taken under the wing by another apprentice, Volepaw. Tallpaw did not like this at all because that was his sister Volepaw was growing friendly with. He also didn’t like that Cloudpaw was getting better already at everything else, hardly caring about Rainpaw’s life as much as the obsessive sibling did. Tallpaw felt very forgotten in this situation and that started a sort of burning anger, coals that were still red hot and intense long after the crimes would be committed.
As an apprentice, Tallpaw was very much a strong cat whose wits got him the power. He never did need to use force and that suited him just fine. Of course, stealth was never going to be his good side. (How can you be stealthy when you’re large and white anyways? In the mountains?) So he needed that wit even if it added to his ill tempered ways. This apprentice was never afraid of who he spoke to or with what attitude and it grew worse the older he got. They suspect it was because of Rainpaw starting to fall in love with Volepaw and Cloudpaw excelling in the ShadowClan lifestyle. It was all a snowball that would roll down the hill though.
One day, Tallpaw crept out to hunt on his own when he heard the murmurs of voices. His curious ears drove him to find out the source only to see Rainpaw, Volepaw, Cloudpaw, and another cat there.
”Cloudpaw, don’t go. Please, there’s so much for you here.”
“I can’t stay,” Cloudpaw stated firmly to his sister. “I’m not a warrior at heart anyways. I always have been and always will be nothing to them. This isn’t where I belong nor where I want to be. I’m happier with Frankie, wild, free.”
“But… Cloudpaw, you can’t do this,” Rainpaw begged. Volepaw rested his tail over her back, intimately and lovingly as the two siblings continued to murmur their cases.
Tallpaw couldn’t believe it. Cloudpaw was thinking about leaving ShadowClan for a loner! Immediately the thought ran through his mind about what ShadowClan would have to say at the Gathering! An apprentice leaving their Clan! It was degrading and it was cowardly. He would not allow this to happen. Nobody knew about it, nobody but him and Rainpaw and that feline, Frankie, that escaped his claws. But when Tallpaw leapt into the fray, only three cats managed to still be alive when all was said and done. It was all a faded memory to him…
The apprentices scattered when the largest white tom bowled into the loner. Cloudpaw’s yowl was forgotten when Frankie’s shoulder was bitten upon, causing her to screech and thrash painfully. It was no use though. He had her. Cloudpaw and Volepaw both turned and tried to attack Tallpaw in turn but he was stronger than they anticipated. Fueled by rage, the apprentice released the loner and slashed his claws over Cloudpaw’s eyes before rolling Volepaw away. “Leaving so soon, brother?” Tallpaw hissed.
“Tallpaw!” the other white male gasped. “What are you doing? I-it’s me, Cloudpaw!”
“I know,” the seething hiss answered. “But not for much longer.”
“W-what?”
“No!” Rainpaw hollered. “Tallpaw, NO!”
“Now you’re dead.” One claw swipe and the blinded apprentice fell dead, throat scored and bleeding upon the swamp. Volepaw stared in horror before realizing the distress this caused his love. Rainpaw… he would never see her so upset again.
He cried out, “monster!” Not that Tallpaw cared. The traitor was bleeding out his life before him. That was the way it should’ve been. Another scrap started however when Volepaw then attacked Tallpaw. Claws and fangs drew blood, yowls and screeches demanded attention, until one gasp caught all ears. In the fangs of his attacker, Volepaw was dying before being dropped lifeless besides Cloudpaw. Frankie, in this skirmish, turned and ran off for freedom even though forever she’d be scared by those images of those murders.
Tallpaw and Rainpaw returned to camp after the brother buried both bodies alone. In the morning dawn , they both laid down, very different from when they had left. And life went on from there though murderous blood lingered on Tallpaw’s claws. The Clan mourned the unknown loss of Volepaw and Cloudpaw and only two would ever know where they truly laid forever. Even when Tallpaw and Rainpaw went on to be Tallstorm and Rainstep, they would never be the Tallkit and Rainkit they had been born as. This experience did change Tallstorm forever in one sense. Before he had laid down, he said this:”StarClan, if you truly were there, if you were truly powerful, you would’ve stopped a traitor when you saw one.”
Since then, he’s openly admitted to disbelieving StarClan and speaking out against them at times as well. If StarClan was real, in his theory, they would’ve stopped the clans from having such troubles. They would’ve seen that only ShadowClan blood should’ve stayed in ShadowClan and there would be no traitors.
Since then, he’s set himself on a quest to keep StarClan away from him and to keep his blood pure. Perhaps in a scary way he does this. Those that are not of pure blood will surely get his scorn and those that are pure of it will definitely get a glimpse from him whether they want his eye or not.
