I pose this question to you not as a member of NIF staff, but as a fellow member — one who has witnessed the decline of our site, and doesn't want to see it disappear entirely. Unfortunately, we've come to a slow point, where our Clans have become filled with cats that nobody uses and our plots have stuck in a rut. I'm curious to know what the other members of the site think we should do about it.
There are two or three options I can think of that would help us out. Absolutely post more if you can think of them, but this is what I've come up with.
The first option would be up to the staff to execute. It would involve the staff clearing out all the dead threads, getting rid of old members (anyone who hasn't logged in for over 40 days) and their cats, and then advertising like crazy to attract new members. The problem I see with this is that the staff don't really have a lot of time. As it is, three of the admin are at college and extremely busy, and I have a site of my own and have no desire to take over this task by myself, so realistically it probably won't get done.
Another possibility would be waiting until the end of the current plot arc, when all of the queens have mated and all the special shenanigans to occur in the following weeks is finished. Then any interested members could work together to make a new site and run it. Of course, the probability of the plot concluding quickly is next to zero, so that leads to the third option. We could just move whenever all the members feel ready, doing the same thing as option two except without the waiting. Then, after we moved, everyone would work together to build the new NIF from the ground up and attract members.
I like the sound of option three, but I'd be interested to hear what other people's opinions on the situation are. Let the discussion begin! 8U
