Glancing around, tail curled and flicking impatiently around small paws, the Riverclan deputy sat smack dab in the middle of the bridge. Content that the little patrol she'd managed to get together hadn't caught up yet, she allowed herself to yawn. Couldn't look tired for the troops..err, troop, now could she? It was sad, really, that she'd only felt it necessary to bring one cat along. There had been a time, when she had been an apprentice, when four cats was considered a small patrol. Of course, she'd been an apprentice back then..when things had been simpler and difficult at the same time. Things had changed, and now it seemed the only action that passed through her paws were large fish and new kits. Hmph. She snorted, shaking her head. Underneath her, and one either side, water flowed. The air was cool, but tinged with the warmth a full sun promised. Obviously, it was only dawn, so the sun wasn't really quite up. Which explained the yawn. Prepared at all times or not, she could still be tired. She'd even tried sprinting here to get the blood pumping, but it had only helped a little. Now all she needed was Crowstripe..and maybe, though she doubted it..whoever was crazy enough to get up and walk around at this time of day. Did that make her insane? Maybe a little, but it was her job. Dedicated to it, there was no way out. Not that she wanted any. All she wanted was some excitement, as unlikely as that was. She stayed where she was, sitting up straight and proper. Large, round eyes and too-large ears made her quite a sight, when matched with a dainty and wiry body. She wasn't a cat to be messed with though. Her clanmates knew that, and even if strangers didn't..Aw, who was she kidding? What strangers? Oh, oh! Maybe the would get to chase a kittypet away or something! She would give anything for that. Just something to report back, even if it was like..a mass amount of dead fish. No..that would be bad. That would mean no food, and that was trouble. She didn't like being the bearer of terrible news..just bad news, and only every so often. Give me snow! I'll even take snow...in Greenleaf. Just give me something to work with! She silently pleaded, lamp-like eyes turned up towards the dawn sky. Or you could get Crowstripe to move his rear, so we can at least say we did something... When Crowstripe had first woken up this morning, the only thing he thought was Wanna go back to sleep. Of course, that was a much simpler and much more hazy time, because it wasn't for several heartbeats that he realized that something -- or someone, rather -- had waken him up and he remembered that he was due to go out for dawn patrol today.

That someone was also Patchclaw.

Great StarClan, I'm dead.

That was the only thought going through his mind now as he hurried out of camp towards the Twoleg Bridge, where the patrol was due to start. Deader than dead. Patchclaw's going to kill me.

Sure, RiverClan was in peacetime right now, but that didn't give the warriors any reason for slacking off on their duties. Borders still had to be patrolled, prey still had to be hunted. Peacetime was no excuse for that, and besides, today they might find ThunderClan intruders or something. Maybe get to shred a little fur.

Aw, who was Crowstripe kidding? The only one to get shredded fur today would be him by his own deputy.

So it was with great caution that he approached the lone feline figure on the bridge, running through apology after apology in his head and trying to come up with a good excuse for being late for dawn patrol.

In the end he decided that she wouldn't accept any apology or excuse and said instead, "Well, let's get this patrol over with."

Her nest was so warm and cozy, yet the white and grey she-cat couldn't get any rest. Her latest decision was still bugging her. Graypaw did not even sleep in the warrior's den, but she felt cold on her side. As if he was supposed to be there. It felt like a let down, a failure on her part, but she refused to be humiliated further by begging for him back. Shellclaw is his mentor now, and that is that. She heard movement in the warrior's den, and saw a shape move out. Was it time for Dawn Patrol already? She hoped so. Clearly, Puddlepelt was too fidgety to stay in at the moment anyway.

Uncurling herself, and slipping by her overprotective sibling, Puddlepelt picked her steps through the Warrior Den and followed the rapidly moving pelt of her Clanmate. By scent she recognized him as Crowstripe. Well, if he was in a hurry, that probably meant he was late so she had better hurry too.

Sprinting, she managed to keep a few tail-lengths behind him before skidding to a halt as he met with Patchclaw on a bridge. Just the two of them? Perhaps...this wasn't Dawn Patrol? She looked from Patchclaw to Crowstripe. Was it possible...? Well, she considered hiding for a moment, but figured she had already been seen. With a friendly smile, she troted up to he bridge and asked politely, "Good Morning, Patchclaw, Crowstripe, is this the Dawn Patrol?"
