Name: Larkflight
Age: 23 moons
Gender: Tom
Clan: ShadowClan
Apprentice: None~
Rank: Warrior
Mate/Crush: Hmm?
Kin: Nettlefang, Dawnstorm;
Description:
Larkflight is, like his name would suggest, a lithe, agile sort of cat, with pale green-gold eyes and a wry expression. He may not be the strongest cat in ShadowClan, but he's designed for swiftness and stealth, which serves him just as well, more or less. That said, it would be a mistake to assume that he is physically weak. His strength can't rival that of some of the larger or more muscular cats of the Clans, but he can hold his own in a battle, not to mention his skill at defensive moves.
The only one of his living siblings to take after his mother's appearance, as a kit, he was named with the prefix "Lark" primarily for the color of his fur. His pelt has a middling brown base color and is striped with streaks of black in a classic tabby pattern. The fur on his ears and the tip of his tail is the same color as these streaks, and his hind paws are somewhat darker in hue than the front paws.
He has a bounding, excitable sort of gait, much unlike that of his siblings. His expression, too, is far more inviting than either his brother or sister's. He is generally smiling, but you don't want to be around him when the smile disappears.
Personality:
The youngest of his siblings, he is also the easiest to get along with, but one gets the idea that he isn't the best at knowing what to say or when to say it. Strike that; he's more than socially inept. If he weren't so genuine, one might think he was actively trying to be rude. Larkflight appears to have little to no understanding of what "offensive" means, and often says awkward, embarrassing, or insulting things during conversations.
Furthermore, he shows no remorse for these incidents. His brother and sister aren't about to apologize on his behalf either. Actually, it's Larkflight who tends to find himself excusing their behavior... which he does in an uncomfortable, stilted way, of course.
Honestly, it sometimes seems that Larkflight has two separate personalities. His default disposition is cheerful and friendly, and he may be the easiest to get along with of his three siblings, but he's also the most quickly angered. Unlike Nettlefang and Dawnstorm, whose anger is cold and calculated, Larkflight is a generally agreeable tom who has fits of rage at the slightest insult or problem. These fits blow over as suddenly as they come -- Dawnstorm in particular is good at calming her younger brother.
One wonders now and then if, had he been raised in some less poisonous environment, Larkflight could have been normal. Then he'll have a violent fit because he heard someone make an offhanded comment about his hunting, and it becomes very clear that Larkflight is the farthest thing from "normal," and always has been.
History:
Once upon a time, there was a ShadowClan tom known as Creepereye. Creepereye was a proud, handsome young cat, intent on seeing his bloodline continue, but all of the she-cats avoided him due to his extremely intimidating demeanor. (Even by ShadowClan standards, Creepereye was... well, creepy.) What was he to do? He searched all through the Clan for someone who could potentially carry his kits.
The search seemed to be fruitless. Then, one day, he met Sillygoose, the ditziest she-cat in all of ShadowClan. At last, there was someone who didn't fear Creepereye, mostly because she was too oblivious to notice his maniacal laughter as they walked in the moonlight.
Sillygoose may not have been a genius, but she served her purpose well -- she soon gave birth to a litter of five kits. This was potentially problematic, as it was Leaf-bare; weather was cold and prey was scarce. Creepereye, being his creepy self, decided to take matters into his own hands.
Three of the five kits were dark brown tabbies, like their mother, while the other two took after their father. So Creepereye figured he would kill the three tabby kits, thus giving the Clan fewer mouths to feed and removing any contamination from the bloodline. He managed to kill two of the kits while everyone was out of the queens' den for a Clan meeting, but Sillygoose walked back in before he was able to dispose of the third.
"What happened?" she cried in exaggerated shock, rushing over to her kits.
"Uh... well, I was just checking up on them, and it turns out these two are dead," replied Creepereye awkwardly. "You know, it's Leaf-bare and all, so probably from sickness, or starvation, or... something..."
Well, Sillygoose, not being the brightest she-cat around, believed him. Unfortunately for Creepereye (but fortunately for little Lark-kit), her father Whippersnapper did not. And so one morning, while they were on patrol, Whippersnapper shoved Creepereye onto the Thunderpath, where he was hit by a car. Not long afterward, Sillygoose died while out hunting -- she fell out of a tree. ...No one is completely sure how this happened.
In any case, the three surviving kits (in order of age, Nettlekit, Dawnkit, and Lark-kit), were mostly raised by each other. The other queens helped, but the kits were too much like Creepereye for anyone to really be comfortable around them. When they turned six moons old, the kits became Nettlepaw, Dawnpaw, and Larkpaw, and moved out of the nursery, to the great relief of all its other inhabitants.
Their apprenticeship was more or less normal. Nettlepaw was highly ambitious, Dawnpaw hard-working and driven, and Larkpaw a bit of a slacker, but nevertheless skilled enough. About half a year later, the three recieved their warrior names, and became Nettlefang, Dawnstorm, and Larkflight.
By this point, the influence of their father that was so noticeable in their kithood was less immediately obvious. Nettlefang was often rude, and clearly had high ambitions, but that was something rather expected of a ShadowClan cat. Dawnstorm's rather scary air could be put up with, as she was a skilled hunter and fighter, and Larkflight, while prone to fits of rage, could also be reasonably friendly.
But the traits that made them so worrying as kits are far from gone.
