It seemed like the time had flown by too fast. It seemed like just yesterday she had four squirming kits, barely bigger than her paw. But here they were, almost a moon later. She couldn't believe it, her babies were almost a moon old. They would become more and more active as they grew, something the queen was actually looking forward to. Mintleaf knew that the kits had to grow up, that was something she accepted quite well, but was she ready for it? They had been no trouble up to this point, just curled up next to her, but today would be the day the Clan could fully see them for the first time. Today, her four kits would be out of the nursery for their first time. She couldn't wait to see their little faces, and thankfully she had a mate who was very devoted to both her and the four little ones. Thistlefrost was wonderful to the kits, always taking time out of his day to make sure they were all taken care of. She did, however, worry about his sister, Ripplepaw. The apprentice had pretty much been neglected, and although she felt awful, she didn't want to interfere between the two siblings. Thistlefrost was just helping, and it was greatly appreciated. She knew she would need his help more than ever, now that the kits were more curious about their surroundings.
The calico queen sat down just outside the nursery, she had, of course, brought each of her kits out, there was no way not one of them would miss this. Mintleaf purred as she felt the warmth of another body next to her. It seemed Thistlefrost had joined them, and it was a special day. "Don't go too far, you will have plenty of time to explore later." she mewed, glancing fondly at her kits. "Now go have fun." Mintleaf added her eyes shifting to each kit.
The long-haired gray tom shifted as he was picked up. He was in his mother's mouth, but why, what was going on? And then, new scents drifted and his senses went into overdrive. This was new, and where exactly were they? This wasn't the place he was used to. Dewkit stared up at his mother as she spoke, this was the outside of the nursery, so this had to be the camp that he had heard so much about. He nodded to his mother, but decided to stay close to Thistlefrost. This tom wasn't too much of an explorer, he would stay and watch for now, maybe later he would explore around. He did, however, keep a close eye on his siblings.
Dawnkit had pretty much squirmed around the instant she was picked up. The little blue-gray she-cat didn't like having her paws off the ground. She hated the feeling on not having her paws on the nice soft dirt. Her mother had reassured her they were going somewhere new, but she could have walked. When she was finally put down she continued to squirm, sitting still came hard for her. She didn't really pay attention to Mintleaf as she spoke, she was more overwhelmed by what was around her.
With mewls of delight the kit began to explore. Her paws lead her everywhere and anywhere. This was so much bigger than the nursery and more exciting! Turning around she saw that Dewkit was sitting by their father. He didn't want to explore? That wasn't fun. The little kit couldn't decide where to go first, there was just so much to see and do.
