Carry On [Willowstar returning]

That had taken much longer than she would have liked. It would have been easier if Ravenstar brought the four kits to Fourtrees so they wouldn't have had to go all the way back to WindClan the second time, but she supposed if that had happened, Specklestar would have had better motive to attack right then and there. She wouldn't have been able to put up much of a fight against the WindClan and RiverClan patrols, but maybe it was better not to tempt her in the first place. Ah well. What's done is done and Willowstar was just glad to finally be back home.

She padded into camp, in a much better mood now that she was on familiar ground and the issue of the badly behaved kits was behind her. Now she could get to introducing the Clan to their two new members and going back to her regular routine. She headed straight for the Highstump, leaped up and called the familiar words across camp, "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey join for a Clan meeting!" As she waited for her cats to gather from where they lay in camp and from their dens, she realized that this would be unexpected and most of them might not know why they have two new kits all of a sudden. It had been a surprise to her as well and she had agreed to the offer without thinking it over, but she was sure her Clan would agree that two new warriors could never be passed up. And they had RiverClan blood, after all.

"I know many of you don't know what's going on." she began once most of the Clan had gathered and quieted. "This morning I was met by a WindClan patrol who offered to give two of Rivermist's kits to RiverClan. The original plan was that they would be split two ways between ShadowClan and WindClan, but Ravenstar decided to separate them four ways instead. I went with Ravenstar to Fourtrees to inform Specklestar of this. Then went back to WindClan and got these two." she gestured to the two she-kits. "I expect for everyone to make them feel at home here. I have great expectations for them so treat them well.

"ShadowClan will probably be on the aggressive side now, and they have good reason to. We don't share borders with them but be prepared in the event that you do encounter them. It's better to be safe than sorry. I have confidence in this Clan that we'll be able to defend ourselves from ShadowClan if something happens. Don't worry yourselves, just be aware of the possibility of something happening."

She didn't want to continue rambling or worry her Clan of the possibility of a fight with ShadowClan. It probably wouldn't happen, but she felt the need to warn them just in case. Drawing the meeting to a close, Willowstar leaped down and padded back toward the new kits, aware that they probably wanted to know where they would be staying for the next three moons. "Come with me, I'll show you the nursery. You'll have plenty of time later to get to know your way around here." she mewed briefly, then set off toward the nursery.

By the time Brackenpelt had returned with the border patrol, Willowstar still hadn't returned. On edge and unable to relax, he had begun to pace around camp and then finally settled down to groom his fur. But he still couldn't stop wondering what had been so urgent that Willowstar had to leave without telling anyone what was going on. Some secret meeting between leaders maybe, in which case he was curious but knew he shouldn't snoop. Finally he had decided to eat and was able to get his mind off of the situation until he saw Willowstar's patrol finally arriving back in camp.

He noticed right away though, the suspicious scent of WindClan that still hung on the patrol. He noticed the two kits that were with them and his eyes narrowed. What was going on now? He stared after Willowstar and watched as she called the Clan meeting, then waited until she would explain. While he wasn't very pleased with outsiders coming into the Clan and calling themselves RiverClan cats, a smirk grew on his face when he thought of the trick that was pulled on ShadowClan. They were probably furious, and the big warrior suddenly couldn't wait to see if they would do anything about it. A battle would definitely be interesting, even if it was against the largest Clan in the forest. Things had been quiet for too long.

Silverstripe emerged from the warriors' den as he heard Willowstar call the meeting and looked curiously at the two new kits. Since when had this been decided? This was certainly a surprise, having two new Clan mates all of a sudden. They were two more mouths to feed, and the young warrior was already estimating how much more he would have to hunt during the day. But maybe it wasn't a bad thing, the two could be good warriors eventually. He watched Willowstar lead the kits toward the nursery and made a note to tell Dewleaf about the news in case she hadn't heard the meeting. He would have to go meet the kits later, but not until they were settled in.

Things had been dull in camp while Rabbitkit had been waiting for the cats to return. He had tried to come up with something fun for he and his brother to do but always ended up just lounging around camp wondering what Willowstar and her patrol were doing. When they finally returned he shot up and bounded over to the patrol, barely noticing Willowstar calling the meeting. "What's going on?" he asked wide-eyed when he saw the kits. "What are they doing here? Are they from another Clan?" He looked up at Leopardfang, wondering if he knew what was happening.

Fishing had been a lot different than he had expected. Shellclaw taught things... differently than Puddlepelt did, but it was sure fun. They gray tabby had been soaking wet by the time they returned to camp, but had a small fish to show for his effort, caught by Shellclaw's new hunting method. He enjoyed training with his new mentor, and for a while almost forgot that Puddlepelt was his mentor. Once she was recovered she would probably keep training him, and that almost made him a little sad. That didn't mean he still couldn't take tips from Shellclaw, did it?

He was placing his fish on the fresh-kill pile when he heard the meeting. Had he missed something while he was gone? Graypaw watched the two WindClan kits, noting how scared and lost they looked. He felt sorry for them and wondered if they would get used to living in RiverClan. Unsure of what to do now, he sat by the fresh-kill pile quietly, then went to work smoothing down his wet fur.

Puddlepelt had spent most of the morning lounging in the clearing and watching kits play and warriors go in and out of camp. It was a bit depressing, knowing that she was utterly unable to serve her Clan in her condition, but she forced herself to bear it. Rest up, she thought. In a few days you'll be hunting again in no time.

During her long period of rest, she pondered other things like how Shellclaw and Graypaw. But it all summed up to her laying stretched on her belly just outside the Medicine Cat Den. Queens were lucky...at least they had kits to entertain them while they rested. Speaking of which, Skunkkit had returned to the nursery a while ago. He had looked very tired and he was even limping a bit. She hoped that kit was okay. Having Tanglefang for a mother had been rather hard on him...

Willowstar returned with a whole patrol of cats....including two kits trailing behind. What was going on? Well, Willowstar called a Clan meeting immediately, and Puddlepelt rose to her paws and padded closer to High Stump with a limp.

She listened in slight shock and slight disappointment. So Willowstar had dragged RiverClan's name through the mud, and participated in kitnapping? The white and grey she-warrior looked grim. But the kits were here now, they would need looking after.

She glanced over her shoulder to see that Brackenpelt was pretty close by. The brown tabby tom had a surprising spark in his eye. Was he proud of what Willowstar had done? In any case, that excited expression on his face, it looked good on him. She faced forward, but let her gaze shift to the corner of her eyes.

[glow=black,2,300]"Ow Ow Ow!" Skunkkit hissed, as his mother headbutted him out of the nursery entrance.

"Shut your jaws!" Tanglefang whispered angrily, her tangled fur even more wild from sleep.

Skunkkit reluctantly listened to Willowstar's announcements. More kits? As if the nursery wasn't crowded enough already! He scowled. Still, the gray kit and black kit didn't look to mean, even though they were WindClan. He was so busy staring at the black kit that he didn't even realize Willowstar's speech was over and they were coming this way.

"They are not sleeping near my nest!" Tanglefang hissed at Willowstar as the tangled queen brushed back into the nursery. Skunkkit looked evenly at the Gray and Black she-kits. They probably weren't in a talking mood, and to be honest, he wasn't in one either.[/glow]

Shellclaw led his patrol proudly into camp, but he was just after Willowstar's patrol.Wondering what was going on, he nodded to the apprentices to deposit their prey first then join the Clan Meeting.

Shellclaw took in the entire story, then broke into a grin. "Well done, Willowstar!" he called. "RiverClan could only benefit with the arrival of two new kits, and Willowstar had helped to assert their status as a powerful Clan. That would put ShadowClan in their place for sure!

Pebblepaw trotted far behind the rest of the patrol, carrying her measly little minnow between her teeth. Shellclaw hadn't paid much attention to her. He could probably tell had bad a fisher she was from the start...

She hardly listened to her leader's speech, but she looked on as the kits were marched by. Tanglefang sounded mean....

Streamkit had felt proud of herself at first for keeping up with the RiverClan patrol all the way across WindClan's territory. She was sad to be leaving her home, and worried for Shadowkit, but a little bit of excitement and satisfaction still leaked through. She was out of camp for the very first time, seeing the outside world with no cat to tell her that she had to go back to the nursery! But then she remembered that she would never go back to the nursery again, and her elation died. She continued the rest of the journey with stubborn determination, until they crossed off of the moor and made their way down to the river. This was just too weird. The grass under her paws was damp and thick, unlike anything she had ever experienced before. And the river... were they going to actually go right in? Did RiverClan cats live in the river??

Her breath caught as they approached the edge of the water. They really were going to go right in! There was no way she could make it all the way across; she had never swum a day in her life! Shying back, Streamkit halted a fox-length away from the river and stayed there until one of the adults picked her up and waded in. Cold water soaked into her back and tail; she had never minded getting wet, but she didn't want to drown! Streamkit mewed fearfully, certain that she wouldn't make it all the way across... but she was only wet for a few seconds before they were on dry land again. "Huh?" Surely they couldn't have crossed this fast? She looked around. They were... they were on an island! In the middle of the river!

Fluffystar left for a moment to jump on top of a stump and call together a Clan meeting. Calling a meeting from a stump? How undignified. Streamkit's eyes were moons as she stared around the camp, taking in the odd, tall grass-things standing around and the enormous plants with the rough, brown stalks. Were those trees? She had seen a few from a distance on their way here, but Streamkit had never seen one up close before. Curious, she was just about to go over and examine one when Fluffystar came back to talk to them. The big leader said she would lead them to RiverClan's nursery - their new home. Casting a glance at Shadowkit, the young she-cat got to her paws and padded after the fluffy leader. It was time to see how RiverClan kits lived.

Foxfoot wasn't sure. She didn't really like the idea of two WindClan kits moving in to RiverClan, but whatever made Ravenstar and Willowstar happy, she supposed. She looked up at her leader, an anxious look on her face. She felt very sorry for the two kits; she knew what it was like to lose someone important, and they had lost all that was familiar to them. She sighed pityingly, feeling very sorry for the kits, and for the queen who had had to give them up. They were young, though; they'd recover yet.

But, it made her think. What if that harsh winter hadn't happened? She'd still have Firekit, she'd still have Smokekit and she'd still have Leaf-fire- no. He was called Claw now. But, she'd still have them. And, maybe, a whole chain of events could have been averted. She could still be happy; Firekit would have a different warrior name (she didn't know what her name currently was. She hadn't wanted to know anything about her kit. After she left RiverClan, they were no longer family, or that was how she viewed it).

She padded back to the warriors' den, with one pitying glance over her shoulder at the two folorn-looking kits.

She knew how they felt.

What it was like to lose what was most important.

If she had to feel a paw on her face one more morning, she would seriously go crazy. Every morning some stupid tom would have his paw stretched across her face. The worst part is when the foot twitched and claws came unsheathed and gave a scratch right above her eye. You would think after moons of this, the she-cat would be fed up with it all, but no she was too secluded to admit anything. She kept her feelings to herself, although she had learned to stop being so antisocial, it didn't mean the same for all the feelings. Anger, hate, she chose not to show, and tried to keep a smile on her face. Lilyblossom hated waking up like this. And so her morning had been wonderful. She had just gone back in the warriors den to try to catch up on some sleep that she had been robbed of when Willowstar came into camp. With a sigh the she-cat padded back outside and sat down, staring up and listening to the leader speak. Only when she heard that annoying voice speak up did she look to her right and saw that tom that stares at clouds all day. She ignored him, still angry that he enjoyed using her face as a foot prop.

Birchfog had a wonderful sleep. The lovely clouds were floating and taking them with him. It was nice to feel the fluffiness under his paws. Each pawstep was like a new dream. And his foot even had it's own cloud to prop it up. It was so soft and dream-like. And when he had awoken the dream had only become better. There were so many different shapes in the sky! Look at them, that one looked like a mouse, prancing around in the forest, and that one looked like a leaf falling to the ground. Clouds were so pretty. And when the fluffy leader came into camp and began to speak, she reminded him of a cloud. Maybe if his paw touched her fur, he could be back in that dream world again. Birchfog stared in wonder, not catching a word of what she was saying. "Pretty cloud leader." he murmured lost in his trance.

"Are you sure this is enough, and we don't need to collect anymore?" Cloverpaw asked, carrying a mouthful of herbs as she trotted back into camp with her sister. Of course the orange apprentice was joking with her sister, well mostly. Never did she think volunteering to help Ivypaw collect herbs could be so long and exhausting. They had been gone pretty much all morning, and were just now getting back. Next time, she would just tell Ivypaw to go on her own. Now that she knew Hollykit would be alright, and that her sister had Skunk-kit to play with, she felt more at ease, and it was easier to let go and enjoy life. Cloverpaw was actually eager to train, and wouldn't make up excuses not to go to be with Hollykit. Padding after her sister to the medicine cat's den she noticed Hollykit coming out of the nursery. She was glad to see the kit doing something other than laying around. It still bothered her that Hollykit didn't speak, but Hollykit was strong and becoming healthy, right now that's all that mattered. "Where do I put this?" she mumbled through the herbs. After giving her instructions, she placed them down and looked outside the den. Pebblepaw was back! "I'll see you later, Ivypaw." she said, as the meeting started and the orange apprentice ran to her best friend. Taking a spot next to Pebblepaw she purred.

"Have fun training?" she asked. And then she saw the two new kits, one of them looked like it was going to find a hole and bury herself in it. Well, this meant two more playmates for her sister, which could be a good thing. Hollykit just hung around Skunk-kit, surely that couldn't be a good thing.


Ivypaw had followed in behind her sister a little more slowly, having a few more herbs in her mouth. Cloverpaw just couldn't keep her mouth shut the entire time, and the pale orange apprentice was beginning to wonder if her sister would ever shut up. Even when herbs were in her mouth, Cloverpaw continued to go on and on. She was mostly complaining, and the herbs had only muted her voice. Deciding it was time to go, mainly because she was sick of hearing Cloverpaw speak, she padded back into camp and only nodded at Cloverpaw's question. This would be enough for now, she could always go and gather more later if she needed to. Ivypaw knew one thing, she would take someone else with her next time.
Taking the lead when they entered camp, the apprentice padded into the medicine cat's den and set her mouthful down gently. Hearing her sister's question she made room for Cloverpaw's pile. "Put them here for now. I'll sort them in a minute." It seemed as soon as she had spoke, Cloverpaw had excused herself. "See you later then." she said softly. She saw Willowstar speaking the Clan, and sighed. Ivypaw knew that she probably should go listen, but right now these herbs needed to get put away before some kit, apprentice, or even warrior came in and messed them all up, after she had worked so hard collecting them. Besides, Cloverpaw would probably tell her later anyway.


Hollykit grinned as she spotted her target, a leaf floating softly to the ground. She wiggled her bottom in anticipation as she waited patiently for it to come closer to her level. But her patience didn't last long, the red kit had already pounced into the air, missing the leaf by more than she thought. Landing with a soft thud on the ground the kit got up and shook her fur, spitting out the dirt that had accumulated in her mouth. Only when she had heard Tanglefang and Skunk-kit saying something did she make her way out of the nursery. Seeing her friend she managed to purr a little. It wasn't hard for her to ignore his mother, Hollykit wasn't afraid, why should she, Tanglefang was nothing to be scared of. She sat down beside Skunk-kit, and poked him gently with her paw. She had made sure not to poke him too hard, in case he was still hurting, but it was her way of announcing her presence.

Hearing the angry yowl of Tanglefang, the she-cat awoke. Probably saying something to Skunk-kit again. She had not meant to take a nap, but watching Hollykit play had made the queen become quite tired. Sootwhisker had enjoyed the thought that her own kits would soon be able to play like the other kits, and just be able to live their life, living the life her previous kits weren't allowed. She wallowed for a few moments, thinking about her dead kits and heaved herself up. Just as she was exiting, Tanglefang had stormed in, saying something about not sleeping near her nest. What exactly had the queen meant? Becoming curious she sat down outside the nursery and saw Willowstar having a Clan meeting. And she had nearly missed all of it. She had caught none of it, only the cats in the Clan chattering about something or another. She noticed that Willowstar was coming her way followed by two kits. They looked so scared, poor things.


Shadowkit had not been quite as lucky as her sister. She had frozen up the instant they had left the camp. It had always been her boundary. She wasn't as adventurous as her siblings, and had only left the comfort of the nursery a few times, never going further than the exit of camp. Her paws could no longer carry her as she walked, they had become so shaky she didn't know how she would walk anymore. Just when she thought nothing could get worse, some strange cat had picked her up. The shaking only became worse as she was picked up. Not only were her legs shaking, her entire body was engulfed with fear. She was way out of her comfort zone. She was away from home, in some strange cat's mouth. This day was the worst ever. And then she saw the water. Shadowkit wasn't afraid of water, too much, rain she didn't mind, and actually enjoyed sticking her paw in a puddle every now and then, but this was the biggest puddle she had ever seen. All the kit could do was gasp. And they were going in the puddle! Her fur had gotten a little wet, but she didn't mind, it actually felt somewhat refreshing.
When they had made it to the camp, she had been set down next to Streamkit. Her legs were still shaking like the rest of her body, so all the black kit could do was sit and stare. When more eyes than she would have liked gazed on her she looked to the ground. This was becoming unbearable. The big fluffy leader came back and she sighed a little bit of relief. She was still afraid of the big fluffy cat, yes, but not as much as the other cats. Fluffystar had been the first cat she had met from this Clan. She nodded and watched as Streamkit followed. Not wanting to be left behind, and the feeling in her paws returning, she hid on the other side of Streamkit, not wanting to be watched anymore.

Willowstar approached the nursery, noticing that the kits and queens were already emerging curiously. They had likely already heard the meeting so she didn't spend time explaining what she had already gone over. Willowstar's eyes narrowed a bit at Tanglefang's hiss and she nodded curtly as the other she-cat disappeared back into the nursery. If there was one thing she was worried about, it was that the new kits wouldn't get along with the harsh queen. The RiverClan-born kits who had grown up around her handled well but it might be different for the newcomers.

"Sootwhisker," she meowed, facing the other queen who was still by the nursery. "This is Shadowkit and Streamkit. I know you'll soon be occupied with your own kits but I want you to look after them for now. I'm sure they'll prefer you over some of the other queens." she lowered her voice so Tanglefang wouldn't hear the added comment, then cleared her throat to speak again and turned to the kits. "You'll be sleeping here until you're old enough to become apprentices. Don't let any whispers or insults get to you. The kits in RiverClan are friendly and will gladly help you out if you need it. I'm here as well." Then satisfied that she had said all she could, she turned to leave. And she prayed that the kits would eventually adjust to live in RiverClan, or else taking them would have been pointless.

The excitement of the meeting was starting to die down and cats were splitting into groups to gossip or going back to their dens. Brackenpelt was at a loss for something to do at that moment, for a strict and dutiful cat such as him didn't have anyone he would just sit and chat with. That was pointless and a waste of time to him. He resolved to just go back to his den until he would be needed. Rainpaw would probably enjoy a while of him not working her.

PATCHCLAW

Patchclaw had waltzed into camp on the coattails of the patrol, her large golden eyes watching every cat, especially the two kits. The small, oddball calico has pressed herself up against the stump. With a small, jaw-snapping yawn, the Riverclan deputy had silently listened to the speech she'd known would come. Watch out for Shadowclan, be nice to the kits or I'll shred your ears...that kind of stuff. She might have looked rather bored, but she was pretty happy. Everything had gone off without a serious hitch, and her Clan was now two cats stronger. In due time, Willowstar finished delivering the message, and followed the two she-kits into the nursery. She pushed her way through the groups of cats that had formed, eager to see that Shadowkit and Streamkit got settled in well enough.

"I'm here for you also, kits. Though I'll admit you'll probably go running to Willowstar before even thinking of me in the slightest." She shrugged, her scratchy purr rumbling softly in the quiet surroundings of the nursery. "I'm Patchclaw, since I haven't had the time to introduce myself. I'm the Deputy of your Clan, little ones. I'll be out now..just have to make sure a pair of certain someones wake up and say hello." She padded towards the back of the den and nudged the large ball of fluffed-out brown fur that was Otterkit.
"Wake up. The kits are here and I'm sure you and your brother will want to say hello. New friends, Otterkit. Make sure your brother says hello, too." And with that, she turned and padded out of the den to wait for Willowstar. She had no other business to attend to in there.

OTTERKIT

A butterfly! It was big and blue and just sitting there for him to pounce upon! The little brown tom dropped into the closest thing to a hunting crouch he could manage, bushy tail held high in the air. It was only a dream, and no one was here to correct the kit's mistakes. Wiggling his little rump in the air, he pushed off of the ground and pounced.

Missed!

The butterfly flew off and he raced after it, white mittened paws pulling him forward as fast as his legs could carry him. The insect flew over a hil and he jumped at it, catching it between his paws. He hit the ground and tumbled, still clasping the butterfly tightly between her paws. He landed, sprawled out on the ground on his side, purring at his catch. Suddenly, something prodded him in the side. He didn't like that, and it had to...go...away.

"New friends?" He groaned sleepily, rolling over. It had only been a dream?! He'd caught the best looking and fastest butterfly he'd even seen in his whole darn life, and it hadn't been real. Miffed, he rose to his paws and looked around. He looked over and around for Rabbitkit and shrugged. If he was in here, he'd meet these "New Friends" on his own. If not, Otterkit wasn't just going to get up and find him. He slowly and cautiously padded towards the two strange she-kits over by Sootwhisker.

"Hello." He mewed softly. They looked a bit frightened and he didn't wan to come off as obnoxious. Be on your best behavior, Otterkit. It's how you make new friends. He though, sitting down a taillength or two away. "I'm Otterkit. My brother, Rabbitkit's around here somewhere and I'll let the others introduce themselves. I...Well, I hope you like it here." It was a horrible lame thing to say, but he wasn't entirely sure what you said to someone who'd just been taken from the only home they'd known.

Crowstripe was outside camp, near the river, attempting to catch a few fish. Today, however, he wasn't having much luck. Perhaps he picked a bad spot because he only managed to catch two measly little fish. Maybe he would take them back to camp and share with his expecting queen. He picked up the two silvery little fish and padded back into camp, then instictively glanced towards the nursery in search of his mate, Sootwhisker.

Ah, there she was! Willowstar and Patchclaw were just padding away, and he tilted his head in confusion. There were two kits near Sootwhisker, and he padded over in a state of puzzlement, the two fish hanging from his mouth. The RiverClan warrior had never seen these kits before. He dropped the two fish beside his mate. "Who are these kits?" he murmured into her ear, looking them over. The duo were covered in WindClan scent. Had Willowstar and Patchclaw stolen them from WindClan?

Sunhigh was at the peak of the sky, and its blinding rays glinted in the mischievious eye of Beechstorm, returning from the dark willow tree that was her resting place. As young as the she-cat was, she still had her days of relaxing like the elders. Although, today was a bit rough, with a few loose reeds in her fur. She had to take a little bit of time before the reeds were firmly out before returning to camp. What would it be to become teased for having reeds in your pelt?

As she returned to the camp, many of the Clan's warriors were out as well, and a familiar plet caught her eye. Crowstripe seemed reluctant to whatever happened, questioning his mate about the new kits- wait, new kits? Where did these newbies come from. As her curiosity got the best of her, Beechstorm padded toward the small group of four, and the stench of WindClan filled her senses. "Hey Sootwhisker, Crowstripe," she meowed, her amber gaze caught on the two kits. "Who are these little kits?" she asked, tilting her head in confusion.

Sootwhisker turned her head as her name was called by Willowstar. What was the leader wanting with her? Listening to the leader's words she nodded, of course she would look after these kits. They reminded her so much of what Applekit and Aspenkit would be like, and that would be good practice. Her own kits were due soon, but these two looked to be no problem. They needed someone to care for them, after all they had been through, no doubt about it. The little black one looked as if she were going to jump out of her fur. Poor little things. "Of course Willowstar, I would be honored to look after them." she said softly. The leader was right, the only other queen at the moment was Tanglefang, and the poor kits were probably traumatized enough as it was, they didn't need Tanglefang to make it worse.

"It's nice to meet both of you, I'm Sootwhisker, and I'm sure you will meet many others later." she purred gently to the kits. Her eyes wandered around camp wondering where her mate could possibly be. As if on cue, she felt a familiar presence by her side. She purred at the sight of Crowstripe. "This is Shadowkit and Streamkit, Willowstar asked me to look after them until they are apprentices." she glanced at him, not wanting to say much more in front of them, they had to be pretty exhausted after such a long journey. Turning to the two kits she nudged Crowstripe, "This is my mate, Crowstripe." she introduced him. Noticing the fish she purred. "How did you know I was getting hungry?" When Otterkit came and began to speak to the two, she backed away a little, giving the three some room. "When you are ready, I'll show you the nursery, or if you'd like I'm sure Otterkit would be more than happy to show you around. It is whatever you are more comfortable with." she murmured to the two. "Oh, hello Beechstorm, this is Streamkit and Shadowkit."


Shadowkit could have become a permanent attatchment to Streamkit's side. She had been so close to her sister, if they had the same pelts they could probably pass for one cat instead of two. When they stopped in front of a queen, Shadowkit peered from behind her sister to take a look. When Fluffystar mentioned staying in the nursery until they were apprentices, that didn't bother the little black kit at all, it meant she wouldn't have to come out if she didn't have to. And then Fluffystar left and some other cat came, all she heard was something about a deputy. She just nodded shakily and stared up at the queen. She seemed nice enough. Shadowkit actually liked her, somewhat, maybe she wouldn't be scared of Sootwhisker if given time. And then, a tom came up, who she introduced as her mate. He scared her, and the little kit shrunk back to her place behind her sister. And another cat, what was this make her want to dig a hole day? She burrowed her face into Streamkit's fur and shivered. This was becoming worse and worse. Her nightmares were really coming true. Only when she heard the voice of another kit did she look up from her sister's fur. What did he say his name was....Otterkit? He seemed nice, and not so scary. Shadowkit just nodded, which was more than what she normally did meeting new cats. At least she didn't hide completely. She poked Streamkit with a paw, her sister could do all the talking as far as she was concerned.

[glow=black,2,300]Skunkkit turned his head at Hollykit's prod. He was feeling a bit better now so she received no glare, even though he had not known it as her at first. His gaze, however, quickly shifted up again to the new kits. They smelled weird, not bad, but it was a strong and strange scent.

"I'll introduce you," Skunkkit murmured, knowing that Hollykit definitely would not talk in front of strangers.

The black-and white tom kit nodded to Otterkit and Rabbitkit before sitting beside them across from the new kits. "Hi, my name is Skunkkit." He gestured with his paw to the little red kit. "This is Hollykit." And then he gestured to the corner of the nursery where Tanglefang was bunched up and glaring at them. "And that's my mother, Tanglefang."

Tanglefang hissed, clearly displeased that her only son was speaking with WindClan filth. "Welcome to the nursery," Skunkkit mewed, rolling his eyes at his mother.[/glow]

Pebblepaw jumped a little at Cloverpaw's touch. "Sort of...yes!" she murmured, scuffling her paw in the dirt. She glanced shyly at Graypaw and looked away. "You guys went herb gathering?" she mewed.

Rabbitkit came over to join by the nursery once Willowstar had introduced the WindClan kits to those already there. So these would be their new Clan mates. Rabbitkit was glad to have more kits in the nursery to play with, even if he and his brother wouldn't be there for much longer. Still, they had a moon to make friends with these she-kits before they became apprentices. The black kit looked terrified, while the silvery one seemed more open and curious. He smiled at both of them as he padded over and sat next to Otterkit. "I'm Rabbitkit," he greeted once he realized the other kits were introducing themselves as well. "You'll love it in RiverClan, don't worry. What's it like in WindClan? You don't have a river there, do you?" he couldn't help jumping into asking questions, these were real cats from another Clan! He'd never met any cats that weren't RiverClan before.

Graypaw wasn't sure what to do now. He was probably done with training for a little while, Cloverpaw and Pebblepaw were busy talking and he didn't see any of the other apprentices around. Oh, there was Puddlepelt! Maybe he should go and see her, ask how she was doing. It was a good sign that she was out of the medicine den at the moment, right? "Hi Puddlepelt," He greeted as he trotted over to his mentor. "How is your paw? Does it hurt?" he asked curiously, eying it.

OTTERKIT

Skunkit and Hollykit came in, and Rabbitkit was soon sitting beside his brother. Otterkit nodded to the other kits, quiet and calm. The two she-kits couldn't be more different from what he could see right there. The one, Streamkit, seemed much more outgoing and friendlier than her sister. Shadowkit looked like she was a shy little thing, scared beyond belief. She hid from Crowstripe, and would probably be scare half to death by Tanglefang. To be honest, Tanglefang scared him at times, and Otterkit considered himself to be a pretty brave tom.

She'd nodded at him! Nodded! It didn't seem like a really big gesture, but it looked like all she did was hide from everyone else. It was sad that these two had come when he and Rabbitkit only had a moon left in the nursery. Oh well. They could still be friends. "You mousebrain!" He playfully scolded his brother. "Of course Windclan doesn't have a river!" He was only teasing, like siblings do. "I mean..maybe they have like, a stream or something...I dunno. I've never been there. But they don't have a river. Everyone knows that!"

Streamkit padded after Willowstar and stood outside the nursery, staring at the large den with a mix of wonder and apprehension. So, this was where they would be living for the next three moons until they were apprenticed. Apprenticed to RiverClan warriors. Streamkit shoved the thought away and focused on the queen that seemed to be talking to them. She thought that the leader and deputy had been talking to them as well, but she didn't remember what they said. Instead Streamkit just blinked slowly at Sootwhisker, looking her over. She seemed nice, and the young she-cat did her best to greet her politely. "Hello," she mewed. But she didn't know what else to say.

Streamkit glanced over at her sister, and then turned to gaze at the crowd of kits that was gathering near them. A small ginger kit and a black and white tom about their own age had arrived, and two toms that looked the same age as Dusk-kit and Tawnykit were there as well. They all introduced themselves, surprising Streamkit when one of them elicited a small nod from her sister. "Hi," the little she-kit said quietly, a bit unsure in her new surroundings. "Um, I'm Streamkit, and my sister's Shadowkit. It's nice to meet you all." Squinting a bit with amusement at Rabbitkit's question, she shook her head quickly. "No, we don't have a river there at all. I... I've never seen much of our territory, actually... but I know it's big, and flat..." She trailed off, frowning and trying to fight back welling sadness. Her territory. She would never get to see it. How many other things would she never do because of what had happened today?

She purred, her fur ruffling with passion. "Welcome to RiverClan you two. I know you will find it a bit hard to fit in with the rest of Riverclan, but if you need any help at all, just ask." she purred, lying on her belly. Her fur was ruffled by the wind, but now, she could see that these two would be the best in the river. Willowstar and Ravenstar chose well.
"So, Sootwhisker. I wondered if the kits were going to be closer to you. You understand how Tanglefang get to me, correct?" she whispered the young queen's name, hoping that the she-cat couldn't hear. She was suprised at all the welcomes for the two kits, and she would do anything to help these marvelous kits. With her light ginger fur shining and amber eyes gazing at the sky, she wondered if there was a chance for her to have a kit.
