Willowstar padded out of her den, closing her eyes and breathing in the fresh air. The sun was already at work heating up camp and likely the rest of the territory as well. The smell of the air promised it would be a warm day much like yesterday. As to be expected in Greenleaf, there were always warm days and plenty of fresh-kill. The fresh-kill pile didn't look low despite the patrols not having started yet.
She sat down quietly outside of her den, just looking around camp. Not too many cats were awake yet. She considered trying to groom her always ruffled thick gray coat, but, normally for her, she just didn't want to spend the time on that. The only times her fur was neat and straight were when she would hold a Clan meeting or it was the Gathering. All other times, she didn't bother to wash; only a few licks now and then was enough.
Behind her calm and unworried appearance, her mind was still buzzing. The first thing she wanted to do was to speak with Stonepool, but she was having herself wait here instead of going to look for him. If she just waltzed into the warriors' den there was no telling what the Clan would think. She wasn't that rushed. On the other paw, she wished he would hurry up and come out of his den so she could call him over. Tail twitching, her gaze kept flashing toward the warriors' den.
((Frostyyy can you post with Stonepool? =3))
The light creeping into his makeshift nest woke him much too early for his liking. No, it can't be time to wake up now. What happened to the nice, dark den he slept in? He knew that it wasn't this bright inside the warriors' den. Maybe something was different. Peeking open one dark green eye, he realized the reason he was being woken up so early. He wasn't in the warriors' den. Curled up under the diminishing shade of a fern at the edge of camp, he had slept outside, far from his Clan mates.
Maybe he was being stubborn or childish, but he couldn't bear the thought of having to sleep in his nest next to hers when they were fighting. It would have been awkward and uncomfortable. Maybe not sleeping in the den at all had made her even more mad. But what did it matter? She was the one who started it in the first place, as far as he could remember.
Either way, he knew he wouldn't be able to get any more sleep now that the sun was up and there wasn't much shade outside of the dens. Grunting, he sat up and ran his tongue through his fur a few times, quickly giving up out of tiredness. What time would Rainpaw wake up? He wouldn't know, so he might as well be ready for when she did. He had every intention of carrying through on his invitation to help her with her battle moves. It would give her an advantage and a surprise to pull on her mentor as well as help him refresh his skills.
He got up and trotted sluggishly toward the fresh-kill pile and picked out a large looking water vole to eat. He always seemed to be most hungry in the morning and he would need the energy anyway.
((Yaay attempted long posts ftw!))
