Lightfeather looked intently at Earthfoot, hoping for words of reassurance but also wanting to be told the truth. Her pointed ears were pricked as she waited for his response, but she was startled when Darkflower burst into the den and called for the medicine cat to help deliver Poppyfrost's kits. "Poppyfrost is kitting?" Lightfeather gasped, her golden eyes widening. That was exciting news, but... she was having trouble? She hoped sincerely that Earthfoot would be able to help her and her kits pull all pull through. When she heard the brown-furred medicine cat extend an offer for her to come as well, Lightfeather was torn. She wanted so desperately to help the other queen... she liked Poppyfrost, and loved kits. Every hair on her pelt ached with concern for their health and burning curiosity over the new lives that would be coming into the world.
But what if Brindlepelt needed her? What if she left and then Brindlepelt woke up and was scared and alone? Her heart beat faster at the thought of abandoning her sister when she was needed most. Earthfoot wouldn't have offered if he thought Brindlepelt still needed watching, a voice inside her argued. If he thinks it's safe to leave her alone for a while, then there's nothing to worry about. Lightfeather let this inner voice soothe her. Rising to her paws, she pressed her muzzle into her sister's pelt. "I'm going to see if I can help Poppyfrost," she murmured into Brindlepelt's fur. "Don't worry, Brindlepelt. I'll be back as soon as I can." Sparing her sister one last, hesitating glance, Lightfeather firmed her resolve and slipped out of the medicine den after Earthfoot to give what aid she could.
