Alfa is the very picture of the attractive tom, all sleek muscles and smooth, glossy fur. His build is lanky and long, not exceptionally powerful, but definitely big enough to make cats think twice about messing with him. He looks somewhat angular, but not gaunt enough to be considered skinny. It's more slender, showing off the muscles rippling under his pelt and still allowing for sharp, angular features.p e r s o n a l i t y .
His pelt is short, and always kept clean and well-groomed. It is a bright golden colour, with tabby stripes that result in a variety of shades ranging from dark amber to pale gilded yellow. Alfa's fur is completely unmarked by any scar or wound, as he takes careful care not to allow his outward appearance to be marred by unsightly blemishes.
Though he is over two years old, he can use his lanky build and soft, unmarked pelt to appear seasons younger than he actually is. His eyes are a warm golden colour that matches his pelt perfectly, and their gaze can be alternately friendly and engaging, or cold and disturbing to behold.
While Alfa's appearance is undoubtedly gorgeous, he is not a normal cat, and no one should ever think otherwise. At first he may seem perfectly ordinary; in fact, he can be very charming. When you first meet him, he will often smile engagingly and make intelligent conversation, and generally enchant any she-cat that he comes across. He seems a natural socialite, and is never at a loss for words when his partner has little to say.h i s t o r y .
However, if you hang around him for long enough, you will start to realize the truth. Inevitably, you will start to question the flat deadness in his eyes, the disturbing sensation that there is nothing there beneath his skin. It is almost as if there is a part of Alfa that is simply missing, something that should be there, but just isn't. He isn't like other cats, and it isn't normal. By all rights he shouldn't be the way that he is. But he is, much to the misfortune of the other cats around him. And here is why.
When trying to understand Alfa, what it comes down to is just a few important traits. For one thing, he is completely lacking in the sense of empathy. The sight of kittens frolicking gleefully in the sun brings him no happiness; likewise, the screams of a cat in pain don't bother him in the least. The needs or wants of other cats never cross his mind; it is always himself that concerns him, and that is just how he is. Alfa is a pathological liar, and will blatantly tell falsehoods without regard for whether there is any need to. Often it reaches the point where he doesn't even know his own lies from the truth.
Alfa has a very warped view of the world around him. He has committed many grievous misdeeds in his lifetime, and feels remorse for none of them; he exists in a world where the truth exists as he makes it, and the blame always rests on someone else's shoulders. On some levels his mind works far beyond that of other cats; his memory is flawless, and he is a schemer and plotter to the bone. Being both a masochist and a sadist, he derives intense pleasure from inflicting pain and having it inflicted on him, especially during intimate moments. He doesn't feel the need to kill his victims; causing pain and humiliation is enough. But if he does ever take the time to dispatch another cat, then he makes sure to draw it out as long as possible.
In addition, Alfa has very little patience, and gets bored and frustrated very easily. His temper is extremely volatile; one moment he will be conversing easily with another cat, then they'll say the wrong thing, and have one moment to stare with growing unease at his flat expression before he just snaps. Alfa's temperament is very unstable; one day he could be absolutely fascinated with something, and then suddenly it will lose all interest to him. There is no way of predicting how long any given thing will hold his interest, but almost everything bores him eventually.
Finally, Alfa is obsessive to an alarming degree. Anything that interests him immediately becomes his, and if that interesting thing is a cat, then there is little hope for them unless they have support to back them up. A cat who has attracted Alfa's interest no-longer has any free will; they will act how he thinks that they should, and if they don't then he will remind them. Often Alfa will forget about his infatuation, but in rare cases he finds something that he becomes absolutely passionate about, and will hold onto that for the rest of his life. StarClan help any cat who falls into this category.
Alfa's birth was an ordinary affair. He was born to parents June and Sinbad alongside two other brothers, who were called Darius and Snake. Alfa's birth name was actually Alfalfa, which grew in abundance on the neighbouring farm, but it quickly became shortened to Alfa as he grew. Alfa was never very close to his family, though they all lived together in the same Twoleg nest.o t h e r : June
Their housefolk took fairly good care of them, though he wasn't there very often. June took good care of all of her sons, and the five cats often spent time together lying in the sun or playing with stray objects. But despite the family bonding time, young Alfa felt little attachment to his kin. He felt comfortable with them, as he had lived his entire life in their presence, but he felt nothing more than that. It was simply habitual for them to be near.
When Alfa and his brothers were a couple moons old, their parents began to teach them how to hunt. Whenever their housefolk let them out, either June or Sinbad would school their sons in the ways of catching live prey. First they brought live mice to their sons for them to kill themselves, then they allowed the three toms to stalk on their own.
All three cats were keen hunters, and learned quickly. However, none of them loved hunting as much as Alfa. The young cat took to hunting like a duck to water, eagerly locating his prey and pouncing on it with thorn-sharp claws. Each kill sent a thrill of pleasure shivering up his spine, but he did not mention it to his family. Every cat enjoyed hunting, right?
Alfa was four moons old when his life, and that of his family, changed abruptly. He was idly following their housefolk around the house when it came to the flight of steps that led downstairs. As the housefolk neared the stairs, Alfa quickened his pace, a smile of excited anticipation beginning to spread across his face. As the large, hairless creature began to descend the first step, the young tom reached out and grasped its ankle with one thorny paw, digging his teeth into skinny flesh behind its foot.
There was a loud bellow of pain and shock from the housefolk, and then a long wail of fear as it tumbled heavily down the stairs. Alfa watched with glee and intense fascination as the lumbering creature squirmed and moaned at the bottom of the steps, one of its arms broken and red. None of his family were inside the house then, so they didn't see what had happened. All they knew was that their housefolk left for a few days, and when he came back, he shouted at them and locked them out of the house for good.
After that, Alfa and his family eventually moved on to a new home, realizing after a few days that their housefolk wanted nothing more to do with them. The group of cats journeyed for a couple days until they came to an old, abandoned car in a disused field. This became their new home, and the fields around it became their hunting grounds. Mice lived there in abundance, so the family was able to survive reasonably well, despite their previous dependency on their housefolk.
For a few moons, life continued at a normal pace for the small group of cats. Alfa often went off by himself to hunt, beginning to realize that he wasn't quite like the rest of his family. Alone with only himself for company, the young tom spent his time catching prey and seeing how many injuries it could sustain before death. Only a fraction of his catches actually made it into his stomach; the rest were too mutilated to be eaten.
When Alfa was seven moons old, he started to get irritated more and more with his family, especially his brother Darius. The tabby tom was jealous of Alfa's attractive ginger pelt, and his brother grew tired of his grumbling. One day, the two brothers went out hunting together, at Alfa's suggestion. The golden tom led his sibling over the fields toward a place that he had found, a steep trench that was the home to a colony of fierce rats.
As they neared the ditch, Darius whined bad-naturedly that there was no reason for them to come this far to hunt. He turned toward his brother... and was suddenly tumbling down the dry, pebbly slope, pushed down by his kin. Alfa watched impassively as the young cat skidded down the side of the ravine, but he couldn't stop a dark, rapturous grin from spreading over his face as the sound of squeals and shrieks began to permeate the air. He dug his claws restlessly into the soil to stop himself from purring out loud, lest the rats notice him and come for him next.
Shortly after Darius's death, June disappeared suddenly and was never seen again. She hadn't said a word to any of her family before she left, but Alfa suspected that his mother had panicked after the death of her son and had gone to find new housefolk to live with. After that, Alfa's relationship with his father worsened, as the older tom blamed his son for the family's previous misfortunes.
There was nothing to connect the unfortunate accidents to him, but Sinbad was suspicious all the same. The young cat wasted no time in planning the deaths of his remaining kin, but it was difficult. Sinbad was wary of him, and Snake was rarely far from his father's side. In the end, Alfa started to research the effects of various plants, and eventually hid deathberries in his kin's food. Their deaths were quick, but agonizing, and he relished every spasm before death finally claimed them.
Alfa was less than a year old when he finally struck out on his own, free from his family at last. They had been irritating, each and every one of them, and he was glad not to have to put up with them any more. But After a few moons he missed the thrill of preying on cats; listening to the squeals of mice could only satisfy him for so long. His inspiration came when he chanced upon a young loner named Misty. His sleek, handsome looks and intelligent, charismatic manner soon charmed her, and he eagerly lured his new project deeper into his web of deception.
Once she was completely infatuated with him, Alfa began a long road of abuse that abruptly ended with the birth of Misty's kit, Gabby. The tom had no intention of raising a family, and he was getting tired of his current mate. He left her, sick and weak, in the forest with a newborn kit.
Next he targeted Pepper, a young kittypet who was 13 moons old. From the window of her Twoleg's nest, Alfa charmed her and convinced her to come live in the wild with him. Once they were in the forest, she was completely out of her element and lost. Again, his victim revealed that she was carrying his kits. And, again, Alfa abandoned her, left her in the forest, alone and lost. Thank goodness she was found and returned to her Twolegs, but her kits did not survive. Alfa's third target was Juniper. She was already a young loner, and he left her with a litter of eight kits to feed herself. Then there was Paleflower, whose two kits survived. They live in ShadowClan currently.
One day it occurred to him that the kits of all of his previous mates were growing up without ever having met him, and in all likelihood they had no idea who he was. He thought this a piteous shame, since he was sure that they were all splendid cats, having descended from his own august self, and decided that he would search for them. The first cat he sought was Beatrice, who - he had heard - lived in a barn near the edge of the moors. While scouring the the barn for her, he came upon a young WindClan apprentice called Mousepaw, and added her to his list of previous conquests.
It was only a short time later when he found Smokeheart, an injured ShadowClan warrior, while searching for his two Clanborn kits; he escorted her out of her territory, drugged her, and left her alone and in pain after having his way with her. Alfa doesn't know, nor does he particularly care, whether Mousepaw and Smokeheart ever made it back to their Clans, and he doesn't know whether or not they are carrying his kits. But you can be sure that, in the moons to come, he will make sure to find out whether he has any new kin to seek out.
