Rivermist looked down at Shadowkit, but this time, in disbelief. "No, Shadowkit," she said firmly. "There will be none of that now." Anger still blazed in her eyes, but it was slowly cooling. "You participated in the fight, and are as much to blame as the others." She shifted her gaze to Swiftkit. "You may not have touched her," she began, "But words do just as much damage. I talked with you earlier about watching what you said, but you continued to taunt her, and make snide remarks. Well you know what, this time it went too far." Her eyes snapped up. "Stormkit, don't you dare go anywhere. I am not finished. There is a little something that I need to talk to you about." She was going to ask him about the meeting with Violetkit and Creamkit earlier, wanting to know why.
A familiar voice backed her up. Sandtail? She whirled around, her eyes flashing with hurt and anger. Oh, so now her betrayer of a friend was helping her? Right. Rivermist's eyes were cold as she gazed at Sandtail. "So now you stick up for me," she murmured, hurt in her voice. "Such a nice change, don't you think? Sorry doesn't change what you did, Sandtail. I forgive you, but remember this: when you called upon Ravenstar for punishment, you hurt not only me, but our friendship. What are you going to do to help me fix what we've lost?" She then turned back to her kits. Oh StarClan, what was she going to do? Her world was crashing down around her, and she felt as if she was drowning in misery.
"I never, ever, ever want to see you kits fighting like that again. Do I make myself clear?" Without waiting for an answer, she glanced at the two that had started it. "Shadowkit, Swiftkit, I have yet to figure out a punishment for you, but for now, it would be wise to not speak to each other. One more claw out of line tonight, and I will make you clean the elders' den everyday for six moons." Her fur was still bristled somewhat, but it began to relax as she began to calm down.
