Hawkflight watched with a mild expression as the silver she-cat padded directly for Ravenstar. The nerve of her, approaching a leader like that! She'll get what's coming soon enough! Ravenstar ought to drag all those half-blood mice out of the nursery and into the depths of ShadowClan, in his opinion, but he wasn't one to get involved in Clan Affairs. He'd much rather sleep beneath stars and feel wind blowing on his fur on Outlook Rock.

Meanwhile, he padded off towards the nursery. If the Clan went to war over her kits, he might just take his family and leave it, especially little Violetkit. AFterall, he could enjoy the moor elsewhere anyway.

If Ravenstar was irritated that Rivermist had interrupted him when he was about to have a conversation with his deputy, he didn't show it. With a flick of his tail he waved Streamfur away, resigning himself to talk to him later. It wasn't like the other tom needed his assistance to organize Clan matters anyway. "Rivermist," he greeted the silver she-cat, studying her as she settled uneasily in front of him. "You haven't heard, then. The news has something to do with Foxfur, but more to do with you, actually."

Pausing for a moment to be sure that they had some privacy, the black tom continued with an even voice. "At the gathering, Specklestar announced that Foxfur had expressed a desire to see his kits, and requested that four of them be moved to ShadowClan to be raised there, with him. I said I would leave the decision up to you, and would send a patrol in three sunrises with WindClan's decision. I know this is a weighty choice, which is why I have given you three days to determine what you think is best. Whatever you decide is what we shall do, so have no fear that WindClan will not stand behind your decision."

Rivermist's eyes widened with shock. "He..she..wha-?" Her tail began to lash as she becam emore agitated. "Why would Foxfru do this to me? I know he misses the kits and all, but he'd always see them at the Gathering..." She began to pace back and forth, her head swinging slightly. "But if I refuse...It could bring about a Clan war...and Foxfur would feel betrayed...Oh StarClan...What do I do?" Her eyes stared unseeing at the ground as she came to a halt, her paws trembling.

Emotions swept through her like a hurricane. Images flashed by. Her kits, facing two others - Violetkit and Creamkit. The image became the inside of the nursery, and a big battle raged, kin against kin. Finally, a sweet memory. Eight tiny kits, blind, deaf, mute...her kits. Foxfur's kits. HalfClan, but every bit hers. Her breath came in ragged gulps, and she raised her sorrow-filled eyes to Ravenstar's. "I need a little time to think about this," she said softly. "I will let you know as soon as I can."

Her tail and paws dragging, Rivermist set off to return to the nursery, each step halting and slow.
